Is Violet or Plum a Neutral

I was looking for a new eyeshadow look for Spring and the SA told me that a muted violet, plum or brownish plum can be considered an everyday "neutral" for blue eyes?

Anyone have any thoughts on this? I've never heard or read of that before. I generally just default to brown.
