@Lucky Charm   It was ok at the start but it was 5 hours of training and we were toast at 2 hours!

edited to add that wow, that's really good to manage it in the car!  My daughter (44) does the same thing. No time with the kids in the morning, so parking lot at work...5 minutes too

@bmorechick Oh-- I don't do my makeup in the car.  I can do a full face (do a smokey eye every day) in 5 mins at home.

I just apply a lip balm then lipstick in the car before I get out.

Re: Interesting observation of make up

@bmorechick I wear makeup because I enjoy it.

I don't stop traffic with or without makeup, so it's not about that.

Sometimes it takes me a little longer, but never hours! LOL

It makes me really happy that people are feeling comfortable without wearing a lot of makeup if they don't feel like it.

Re: Interesting observation of make up

I am just too pale and washed out looking to not wear makeup.  I feel better and "more presentable" when I wear it.  If that's insecurity or pride, so be it.

Re: Interesting observation of make up

Don't really notice or care what other women do, so I certainly hope they're doing the same for me.  I go out and about with no makeup on on a daily basis and that includes to the church for handbell and choir practice.  Today, I met some friends for lunch and I wore eyebrows, a little blush, and a lttle lippie.  Now, on Sundays I do the full face thing, but even for that I don't spend hours in front of the mirror doing it.  It's more like 10 - 15 minutes maybe.  I've never timed it.  Plus it gets interspersed in with my doing my hair.

Re: Interesting observation of make up

I wear a light foundation and blush only. I don't think that painting one's face, including the eye area, with unatural colors does anything but make one look ..... well, unatural.  Light mascara can be attractive -- anything heavy lining the eyes looks a bit like a raccoon face.

Re: Interesting observation of make up

My daily routine is LG Balance and Brighten, eyebrow pencil, eyeliner and a sweep of blush. If I'm leaving the house I add mascara and lipstick. I do it because it makes me feel better when I look better. Takes me five minutes tops.

Re: Interesting observation of make up

I have never or rarely worn it.  I have rosacea plus wicked allergies to scents and chemicals on my face.

My neck is more yellow and my chin up is slightly pink with blush looking cheeks.......and now I'm 70 with wrinkles and some facial hair. LOL

I was not raised in an environment where women pampered themselves so grew up knowing little fashion- and cosmetic - wise. It always seemed a struggle to figure this stuff out.

Re: Interesting observation of make up

When I worked or went out, I always wore makeup. Not much. It took a total of a few minutes. Then during the summer the office where I worked was always hot. It was brand new construction and they made the exterior look fabulous but the insulation and air conditioners were lacking. I would have an oily face by 1 PM. My mascara would change to black around the eyes. So stopped wearing mascara.

Then COVID hit. Out of habit, I would put on makeup and lipstick and then get it on my mask. It wasn't worth wearing makeup.

So I stopped wearing makeup and never started again.

Yesterday, I attended a mandatory all day seminar with 3 coworkers. They can get pretty boring and none of us are used to sitting all day like that, so I started to take a sweep of faces - (95% women) to distract myself to see how many were wearing make up and how much.   The 3 coworkers (52, 65, 54) wear no makeup at all - face totally naked.  Not even lip stick...just chapstick - well except one, she wears lipstick only. They have never worn makeup, so I can't imagine them with it.

The women at the table with us (3 others), same thing - naked faces.  I was the only one with lipstick, blush, mascara.  Actually, most of the women were not wearing makeup at all.  A few colleagues from other agencies were there and they are close to my age (69) and they were naked faced.  The younger women, just very little. Enough to give cheek and lip color.  None of those ridiculous lashes or sparkly makeup.  Then again, maybe they save it for night wear.

I found it interesting...looks like I'm not the only one who does not have hours to sit in front of a mirror painting up!

@bmorechick.  You said the telling word, "agency".  Were you all reps of government or social service agencies?  Usually such women are down to each, get the job done types, and not glamour girls.

I know because I was one too.

Re: Interesting observation of make up

I just put on some Balance and Brighten and a bit of blush. In summer it just to hot to bother as it just sweats off and the rest of the year I wear just enough not to scare small animals and chill. I gave up mascara awhile ago because it just kept irritating my eyes.
