My goodness @hyacinth003, I am so sorry.  I can totally understand your desire to want your parents but at the same time concerned for their stress and struggle of knowing what you were going through.  May God give you strength and peace during this battle.

I have never smoked. I have never lived in a house with a smoker. I have never worked so I have never worked around smokers. I never had any reason to have any type of heart tests. Every time my heart and lungs were listened to at a doctor's appointment, there was no reason for concern. A heart attack was the last thing I would have ever thought I would have. On the other hand when it hit, I knew exactly what it was. No doubt in my mind.  And that is why I instantly started hollering at my husband to call 911.

Can I pick your brain as a healthcare professional?

You had no reason to consider yourself at risk for a heart attack.  What caused you to know exactly what it was?  Many times people don't recognize some symptoms are heart related.  Fortunately, you did and acted on it.  My dad once told me he had pain in his jaw.  He was having extensive dental work at the time, so he figured it was that.  I told him to go be checked out if it happened again.  One night, he got the pain in bed.  He drove himself to the ER (bad idea) and ended up with double bypass the next day.  So what tipped you off?

What tipped me off was the incredible crushing pain in my entire upper left quadrant. Then it instantly radiated to the other right collarbone area and my other shoulder blade. All that took less time than it did for me to dictate this paragraph.

That's all I can tell you. I have no medical background.  I guess it could have easily not been one but it was. It was something I had never experienced before and it was in the right place. I would like to say it wasn't rocket science to figure it out but that sounds like I'm making light of the situation. It was just that clear cut/distinct

To add to my previous reply, my husband suffered multiple small heart attacks in 2015 and never knew that's what the intense "heartburn" was.  My husband's pain tolerance is too high for his own good. Mine hangs out in the negative territory 😳  a couple of weeks later he went in for a stress test and instead of having a stress test, went straight upstairs to prep for open heart surgery.
