I hope the IRS has better things to do than worry about $140. I would rather the IRS spend its time working with Congress to find a way to limit tax inversions and collect on Swiss bank accounts. ![]()

She's not charging them. They just gave her a thank you gift. Is that illegal?
She said she's found a new profession and is "making money". Doesn't sound like thank-you gifts to me. Or a one-time thing.
And I'm with those who say they're only trying to help by pointing out that there are laws about this. In addition to everything else, she could be slammed with a heck of a lawsuit if someone developed an infection or medical problem as a result of her services. She really needs to protect herself.

It is very important that all tools are correctly sanitized. My friends and I have our own tools that we bring and sanitize ourselves. This is all because one of our friends went through an infection and this was gotten in a salon that claimed to sanitize. It took forever to get rid of.You are so,right. A nail fungus is very hard to get rid of.

It is going to cost a whole, bunch of money, but meanwhile I'll give you some free non legal advice. the people who are warning you are right, the ones who,are encouraging you are wrong. If you have any doubts, go to,legal aid and ask their free opinion. Why people come to the QVC forums for medical advice or legal advice is beyond me. There are plenty of jobs out there that don't require a license, in my state an unlicensed home health aide/companion can make about $15 per hour. You can volunteer for hospice. So decide if you want to make money or help, people. If you want to make money and love doing nails, get a license. On 8/10/2014 sparklestar said:If you knew you would get these "kind" of responses, then you are aware that what you are doing is breaking the law. Your OP was about you finding a new profession, your second post was you were doing it because it brought joy to the girls. You can keep doing it to help the girls, just don't take money and don't do anything but nail art - no cuticle work. If you want a profession, get the training and license required by the state to protect yourself and your customers. Training is more than just putting on polish, it covers proper sanitation, infection control, etc. Everyone has given you the same advice, should make you think there might be something to it.On 8/10/2014 HonnyBrown said:dooB, how awesome is that!!!!! Not many of us get to follow our dreams. Go for it and ignore the killjoys!
It is awesome. I knew I would get those types of responses ... I was ready for it. I don't care. Funny thing is I didn't do it for the money and set no charge. They gave me what they could.I did it because it brought joy to some girls that otherwise would not have been able to afford such a luxury. I have so much nail polish I could open my own store. We shared time and I think they enjoyed it and that's all I care about. I'm not going to open a business and make a living and I hardly call it an income. Oh, and no one can kill my joy.
