Great article - just decided this week to let my hair 'grow into' a stacked bob! My stylist is tickled and I told her 'If I say PLEASE PLEASE CUT IT... say NOOOOO!'. I always give up on my hair when I try to grow it but this time I'm determined! The stacked bob looks fab on everyone I've seen it on!

I get my hair cut about every six or eight weeks ... slight change each time. No ruts for me!
I'm a ""suicide blonde."" I've dyed by my own hands.

Thanks for posting. I have let my hair grow back out; I have always worn longer hair, but now it's longer than it's been in years. I probably do need to get 2 inches cut off the bottom, but my hair is in very good condition, and I get so many compliments all the time, even from strangers. It really kind of surprises me because I sometimes think it doesn't look as good as I'd like. I'm actually kind of b/t stylists because my regular stylist just didn't cut it like I asked the last couple of times. I'll either go back to her and make it clear what I want, or I'll have to find someone else. The good thing with long hair is you can away with not going to the stylist so frequently!!

Like mine, too. ![]()
But it's not healthy for our hair, especially if it's constantly being pulled back.
A looser ponytail that doesn't tug on the roots is recommended.

She mentioned to me that if I wanted to go a couple inches shorter I could donate it to Locks for Love, so I did. It feels so light and different. It is obviously shorter than I planned and while I do really like, I know by Thanksgiving it'll be a length I'll LOVE! Such a drastic change feels great and I don't feel frumpy anymore, now I actually feel like doing my hair. Also, being able to donate my hair feels great. I've done it a couple times before as have both my daughters ( under 13), the feeling never gets old.
Thanks for the detailed report - FANTASTIC!
Bless you, your daughters, & your hairdresser for showing compassion and empathy.
With nice healthy hair that will be very much welcomed. 8)

Thanks for your thanks, crush - and your reply. 8)
It would be nice if you could get just one inch trimmed off the length, for even healthier hair, so any split ends won't travel up the hair shaft. You'll should still have the look you like, plus the kind words of validation you enjoy.
Why not try a new hairdresser, instead of again wasting your breath and your money? Some of the national chains - like 'Great Clips' - have talented stylists and reasonable prices.
I'm glad, too, that medium-long hair can go 6-8 weeks between trims. 8) Those with long-to-lonnng hair usually can wait 8-12 weeks.
