How old were you when...

Your mom let you use makeup? And did you do things differently with your own daughters?

My mom was pretty smart, she didn't let me wear mascara till I was 14 -- a couple years after my friends. Nothing else, then lipstick & eye shadow at 15-16. I nagged my poor mom about makeup but now I see pix of myself then and think, she was so right.

Sometimes I see very young girls with makeup, smokey eyes in h.s., and it seems so weird... am I an old fogey? They are so beautiful with nothing on their face, and of course men like women with light makeup, and because of mom I still mostly have a light touch.

I even bugged my mom about pantyhose because my girlfriends wore them. Can you believe I actually wanted to wear hose?
