How does Emu oil differ from Argan oil?

Both are said to be good for dry, scaly skin. What is the diff?

For starters, one comes from an animal and the other comes from a tree/nut.

That's the big one for me. I'm not a vegan or a vegetarian, but I don't like the idea of emu oil for beauty products, especially since more emus are killed for the oil than for meat consumed by humans.

Make that 3!

Pommom, there are many oils that contain similar properties and because they are oils they are lipids. Some also contain certain inherent vitamins and other things, which would be found more likely in seed/nut and berry oils.

If you google emu and look at WIKI it will give you the breakdown of the specifics. You can then do the same with Argan, so you can compare.

You're welcome. I have to say, I'm not an advocate of animal derived ingredients and that's just my personal preference. Emu oil is high in essential fatty acids. If you're interested in the oil for those reasons, Sea Buckthorne berry oil is loaded with a full compliment of them......3,6,9 and palmitoleic acid which is omega 7. Vitamins A,E,2 B's and a bunch more goodies. The big drawback is that because it's so rich in these nutrients, it's dark in color and it shows on the skin and will stain clothes! I add just a drop or 2 to a serum and that works great. It's not an oil that suitable to use alone. I also take it as my Omega supplement, I prefer it over fish oils.

You can use the Sea Buckthorne seed oil topically, which I find really nice. I use a drop or 2 alone, or mix. It doesn't contain the Omega 7, but it does contain a full compliment of the others. The one that I use also contains Vit E.

I thought I'd better edit to add.......as with everything, we all have our personal preferences, ideologies and sensitivities. What may work for me may not work or appeal to others.

I've only use emu oil on my piercings when healing. Never tried it any other way. It's great of that though.
