How do you keep from pulling out lashes when removing mascara?

I started using CoverGirl NatureLuxe Mousse Mascara. Not waterproof. I loved the way it fanned out my long lashes (courtesy of RapidLash), but when I washed it off I lost several lashes. And my lashes rarely fall out. I haven't worn mascara for a while, but I don't remember having this problem with any other mascara before.

I made a solution of baby shampoo and wiped my lids with cotton balls. Should I be doing something different? As much as I love this mascara, I'll have to give it up if I can't figure out how to remove it without losing lashes.
