Any advice on products for lip lines?  Between being a former smoker and having lost quite a bit of weight, it seems my lips are getting deep lines around them.  With winter drying out my skin, they look worse.  I'm thinking I need more than just a lip balm but open to all suggestions.  Thanks!

@betty423  Exfoliating the lips is good to do at least once a week, especially in the winter maybe twice.  Then you apply a lip balm or vaseline, etc.  For the lines, try Marula oil or Argan oil which will diminish the look of the lines.  There are products for exfoliating lips check the drugstore and I know Nordstrom carries a few.  Cat Very Happy

Re: Help with lip lines

If you want long lasting results look into microneedling. This is highly recommended by derms and plastic surgeons. Start with the 0.5mm. This is clinically proven. You will see results. The needles reach the dermis layer of skin underneath the lines and wrinkles and stimulate collagen production, which fills them in. All your beauty products will in turn sink deeper and work better.

In order to fill the lines you must stimulate collagen growth. Creams and lotions don't have the ability to penetrate that deep. Only retinol or Retin-A can go deep enough to make a change but it's not as effective as microneedling. Use a numbing cream and it's painless with the 0.5mm.

The science behind this is knowing skin doesn't consider lines and wrinkles an injury so it doesn't try to heal itself like when you get a wound. The needles create microchannels or wounds underneath the skin that tricks it into building new collagen. The best part is the top layer of skin stays intact, unlike with ablative laser.  In other words, this prompts your skin to begin healing itself. Aim for 4-6 weeks with the 0.5mm. I've waited longer myself. Less is more. Just keep doing it consistently. It takes 3-6 months to see results.

I've been needling for several years. Lines around the mouth for me are the most stubborn! Although mine have become less noticeable over time after needling, they are still there. I take a holistic approach, which means I don't use anything b&a rolling except for an organic anti-inflammatory, antiseptic oil (camellia). Personally I don't recommend a numbing agent because this can disrupt the process of natural collagen production. Rolling around the mouth area for me comes with pain and makes my eyes tear up. So it is not pain-free. Hurts like the dickens...but it works like nothing else.

@SilleeMee  Look at Dr. Davin Lim's Youtube video where he discusses the Infini Radio Frequency Microneedling machine. This is energy based. He shows before and afters and there is a lady there with severe lip lines that gets amazing results. His channel is Dr. Davin Lim Lasers & Lifts.

I began using the 1.0mm and there is a huge difference compared to the 0.5mm.

That looks very interesting @NycVixen. Several years ago I had a laser lift done on my entire face and neck with a Yag laser. Still happy with how it turned out. I'm maintaining the firmness and lift I got from it by using my roller. Do you know what that Infini RF costs?

@SilleeMee My dream was to be a dermatologist so I'm always researching and learning. I use microneedling mainly to combat large pores and uneven texture and from I saw on realself.com it costs somehwhere from $1300 and up. I don't know if that is for one or for 3 treatments, the recommended number spaced a month apart. I'm waiting for a call back from my derm who offers it and I'll let you know.

Since this combines two technologies, radio frequency which helps to tighten skin and microneedling that boosts collagen, I think it's worth the extra cost based on what I've read and seen. There is little downtime like 2-3 days of redness, which is typical of microneedling. The needles with Infini can go as deep as 3.5mm. They are insulated needles. This allows the energy and heat to be directed precisely where it is needed; deep into the dermis layer.

I believe Infini will help maintain and enhance your laser lift with minimal downtime as well as address any lines or wrinkles your 0.5mm can't tackle. I'm planning on getting this done in the near future mostly as a preventative measure since I don't have issues with lines but to address some textural irregularities from years of dealing with my oily, acne prone skin.

I respond very well to microneedling so I can't wait to see my results from Infini. I'm 31 so I'm trying to be proactive with my anti-aging strategy.

Wow, sounds exciting! Please let me know what you find out from your call back. Seriously 3.5mm??!! That is very deep. I'm guessing that would be for specific areas and not the entire face. I can't imagine it being pain-free. The cost seems reasonable when you consider that it's two different types of technology. If you get it done please post your review! I am super curious now that you've mentioned it.Woman Happy

Well, I am all about this thread, because I HATE my lip lines!  @SilleeMee about has me talked into microneedling, so I love to read discussions about it.  I am 36 days in on doing a daily Nuface 20-minute routine so am waiting to see what kind of changes I see on Day 60.  I did take photos on Day 30, and compared to Day 1, my undereye wrinkles appear to be lessened.  I was quite shocked at that.  No other changes were seen anywhere else including those stupid lip lines.  Boo.

Yes, by a certain age, lip lines, puffy eyes, turkey neck, jowls....we may eventually see it all. When does the search to stop it go away?

Aging is inevitable like it or not. For better or worse...genetics and/or how you cared for your skin up to this point is all you can do except: a fortune spent on lasers, facelifts, brow lifts, peels, eye “jobs” and Botox and fillers.

Guess what? Even with all that, you will still age and be looking for other procedures to bring back your youth. It’s been so much better since I learned to accept my age and appearance, look the best I can and not dwell on it. It’s not the most important thing in life.
