I'm also a WW Lifer since early '80's but since my heart attack, have come to realize that their program is not all that heart-healthy! As previous poster wrote, they push sodium, snacks, processed foods, fake foods etc. Have you ever looked at the WW frozen foods - loaded w/sodium!!! And Cool Whip - just one product they frequently use - nothing more than whipped Crisco!

I agree about not buying any cookies, pies, cakes, etc. If you don't have any in your house you won't be tempted to eat them. I buy a lot of fruit and plain yogurt when I want a snack. Not sure if you like yogurt but I find this to be very satisfying as a snack and if I don't want to eat it plain I might just add a small teaspoon of jelly to sweeten it. This is much better than using the already sweetened yogurts.

I have tried so many different ways of eating over the years to lose weight and curb my sugar addiction. A few years ago, I discovered that higher protein/lower carb was the best plan for me. I have disciplined myself to eat protein meals for breakfast and lunch most days of the week with carbs allowed at dinner. I'm sure most people here are familiar with carb-sensitivity and the vicious cycle of eating carbs and insulin spikes. It was very easy to see that eating carbs at every meal resulted in this vicious cycle, keeping me hungry all day and wanting more carbs.

It is so very tough to stop eating sugar. I have tried it and I need to get back to stopping sugar. One tip I read was have hot tea with honey to help sugar cravings. I didn't try it yet lol.

My advise to you is MODERATION. Make sure you are getting adequate protein at every meal, which really helps. Sugar is addictive, but a lot of dessert after lunch and/or dinner over time is simply HABIT. For me personally, if I absolutely cut out all desserts, eventually I'll binge in a big way. What I did years ago is to do a moderate portion controlled dessert after lunch only. Examples: 1 oz. dark chocolate (individual DOVE); a "3-2-1" mug cake that is portioned controlled; a reduced calorie/fat fudge ice cream bar, etc. I made myself stop after consuming that portion. Over a month of so, my craving really did moderate.

Very strong emotions only last at a very intense level for a few minutes and even though I don't have any tempting food in the house, I have car keys and no shame.
When I feel a craving, I fanaticize about exactly what I want - is it salty or sweet, crunchy or soft? Don't deny the addiction, just really dream about it. Then I make a bargain that I will play a fun game on the IPad for 10 minutes and if I am still crazy for it then I can go get it. Sanity returns in the pause.
It does not work to deny the feeling or shame yourself. We are big girls/boys and feelings don't need to cause actions.

My downfall is chips. I really have a chip jones. It's terrible. I tell myself, NO MORE CHIPS! I go to the store and I come with them. I'm hooked. The only way, which I've done before is cold turkey! It hurts but once a week or so goes by, I'm back on the wagon. I do have a sweet tooth. Around Halloween I ate more Recees than you can shake a stick at. I gained four pounds. I told my husband, get that candy out of here!! Once it was over and there was a lot left over he took them to work and they got eaten up there. Like this other poster said, you can't just deny yourself altogether but if you're like me, I can't even have one or I fall off the wagon.

Sorry to post twice. I DO eat a lot of vegetables, not because they're good for you, I just love them. I'm not big on meat. I like a good steak or chicken or chops but I enjoy veggies and pasta a whole lot more. It's just a matter of preference but lucky I do. I savor broccoli and spinach by themselves, unadorned. I love garlic and onions which are supposed to be good for you too. When I make toast, I take raw garlic and rub it on the toast and it IS pungent but delicious to me. I love all veggies and greens and eat them a lot so if I fall off the wagon at least I do get good stuff in me.
