Re: Help with concerns about bad breath....

I sincerely appreciate all of your suggestions. It is really just that I am afraid I have bad breath and will offend people-just was looking for suggestions for something I could pop in my mouth from time to time and that does work. Thanks again!

Have you tried oil pulling? Swishing oil in your mouth for 20 minutes in the morning kills the bacteria and removes toxins (so don't swallow after swishing!) -- Google instructions and give it a try!

It says 3-5 minutes, not 20.

Depends on the source, of course. Wink

Funny....I Googled "oil pulling for how long"...pages & pages of "20 minutes". I learned 20 minutes many yrs ago.

The only time I've ever seen 3-5 minutes in apiece about oil pulling, it's been in the context of "I was told to do it for 20 minutes, but I could only manage 3." I tried it for a few days and 20 minutes felt like an eternity, so I wish people said 5.

Anywhere from 15-30 minutes seems to be common recommendations. I've not seen 3-5.

I stick with 20. And 20 minutes has started to go by pretty quickly: I make the dog's breakfast, check email, peruse the forum, boil water for tea, fill the water pitcher, check the bird feeders in the yard... hey, it's time to spit this oil into a plastic bag! {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

Oh -- and mustbuyless is right about eating apples. A natural breath deodorizer.

I would recommend Andrew Lessman's Breath Plus product. They come in gel capsules and you can pop a few in your mouth if you need a bit more confidence. If the source of your bad breath is stomach-related, it will help to neutralize the odors. I would also recommend the tips that others have mentioned, such as using a tongue cleaner, etc.

Andrew will be on HSN next weekend and the weekend after, at which time the product will go way down in price. If you want to purchase some right now, though, buy the smallest bottle which is only around $22.00 or so.

I think a mouth full of oil would make me throw up. Just thinking about it makes me gag. {#emotions_dlg.unsure}

Why do you spit into a plastic bag? Are you saving it?

The oil, after sitting in your mouth for 20 minutes, is full of bacteria and toxins. It cannot be spat into the sink because the oil will compromise the plumbing. One is encouraged to spit it into the trash. I prefer to spit into a Ziploc bag and throw the sealed bag in the trash instead.

Just a preference.

Re: Help with concerns about bad breath....

Since I've been using a Sonicare electric toothbrush for the last 20 years, I never have bad breath - even when waking up in the morning. Besides brushing twice a day, use the toothbrush as far back in your mouth to brush ur tongue (that's where bacteria accumulates). You can carry tic tac's (I like the white ones). If this doesn't help, ask ur dentist.
