Help with activated charcoal

I ordered some activated charcoal powder from Amazon after reading about the teeth whitening benefits on this board. Problem is I can't figure out how to use it without it getting all over the basin, sink, and my hands. What a mess!

Any tips?

I line the bathroom sink with a towel, then break open the capsule on a small dessert plate and rub my toothbrush into it..while the charcoal is on my teeth i take the towel away, rinse of the plate, and let the water run while i finish rinsing my mouth.
