Help with Volumizing treatment spray

I ordered the POM VTS and the POM styling cream and I am having problems with the VTS. What is the best way to use it? Can I use it with the mousse? The first couple of times I used it I mixed 5 sprays with 1 1/2 pump of styling cream it gave me some volume at the crown but wow my ends were like straw. Should I just use it on my crown and should my hair be wet or dry? Please tell me how you use it. Thanks in advance!
