I'm starting to have problems with my jowls. I'd love to hear your suggestions, what has worked for you, what did not work and any other tips.

Call me crazy, but I seriously think that chewing gum every day has helped a lot with my jaw line and neck area.

Gum chewing was/is a habit I picked up while I was in the process of losing a lot of weight. I continue to chew gum at least once a day several sticks and I swear that it has really help with firming my lower face and neck.

ASDM Firming Serum or Peptide Serum with Firming Cream or Collagen Cream has been working for me (night and day). I have a huge fear of getting jowls because my mother has them. I have also tried SSC Reverse Lift Chin Cream and that works well also. There are no miracle products but you can help things with creams and serums.

It's a natural part of aging for many women..... I'm just happy that I still wake up each morning so mine don't bother me as much. And mine are a family heirloom passed down through several generations of women. Just no fighting genes!

I just noticed this problem for the first time myself in the past few months. I thought long and hard and decided to embrace it and go on about my day. One less thing to worry about. My dear Mom had them for many years before she passed last year so I do not mind following her attitude of life. Which was happy and confident. I loved my high cheek bones I had for so many years but now it is onto to the next stage. Gravity hits all parts of the body!!

I think the Facial Flex helps with firming the jaw line. They used to sell them on QVC. It was invented to help rehab patients originally. A lot of ladies use them and they are not expensive.

Wow! I think this is a GREAT tip! I never really thought of the workout your jaw takes chewing gum but it sure makes sense! I am not a big gum chewer but I could probably learn that habit to keep any jowls at bay. Thanks kjohnson and congrats on your weight loss! Smile

There's not much you can do about jowls, other than keeping the area hydrated, using topicals that are known to build collagen underneath, facial exercises, (like the gum chewing kjohnson mentioned) and last resort, makeup camouflage.

Should I mention good diet and daily exercise? And I suppose there are things you shouldn't do, which is common skin & health knowledge.

Besides vitamin C & AHAs, which my skin has no problem tolerating, I do neck/jaw stretches every day, any old time of the day. And, I give myself a facial massage twice a day. Jowls (like neck area and eye area) are vulnerable areas, so I give them a little extra attention.

I think it's gravity more than genes. The same force that keeps us from floating off into space ...

You need to be careful with the gum chewing. I was a big gum chewer when I was younger and when I started having trouble with my jaw gum chewing was one of the culprits. I wound up having TMJ surgery. The cartilage in my jaw joint was mush! Moderation in all things is the best approach!
