The FaceMaster has helped me. I understand that it's hard to believe because I was there too.

I had 2 TIA's (mini strokes) which caused the right side of my face to droop. As I aged, the difference between the right and left sides became more apparent. I purchased the FaceMaster at the beginning of the Christmas season because of the extended return policy so that I could give it a good go.

That was a number of years ago. I didn't return it because it actually works. You just have to use it consistently and you will have results. My face is now symmetrical. Smiley Happy

I think the science behind those devices is sound and just makes sense. For me, it's the "using it regularly" where I fall short.

I've had a couple of TIA's too, but I didn't have that result (just others, sigh). I'm so happy this helped you. Keep it up!!

Youtube has become my best go-to in the world of beauty. Below is a link to a French woman who is an esthetician, probably in her early 60's and this is a video about facial massage techniques that she does to help plump wrinkles and keep the circulation flowing. If you have the time to search her channel she has lots of videos on different self massage techniques for the arms, decollete, neck and double chin. The video below is about a technique for all the problem areas of the face. The problem, for me, is that I don't speak French! Some things are universal I guess.

I didn't get botox I got Radiesse and it went just at/above jawline right at the jowls. It is suppose to last at least a year up to 1.5 years and it really worked. I never had experience with any fillers before and was scared, but was sure I went to an excellent practioner/derm practice. I couldn't be happier!!! I never thought I'd do anything like this, but the jowls REALLY bothered me. She also put alittle in the naso labial fold because I was looking like I was frowning/unhappy when I wasn't feeling that way in the least! The rest of my aging face is fine with me, but how I felt and my facial expression was just too in-congruent. I had no bruising and only alittle swelling which was gone within a couple days. I like how long it lasts and happy because the results are very natural. I think people might run into trouble if they overdo it.

On EDS (Essential Day Spa) there are scads of posts on facial massage (there seems to be a particular series they favor, I think) and people are raving about the results. I just didn't pursue it because I know I would never commit, but for those that will, it's a legitimate ajunct to any facial regimen, IMO.

ETA: I should have said facial massage and exercises.

Gravity, genes, and the passage of time. If you're destined to get jowls.......well, you just will.

May I just say to those who say don't worry about these thing, embrace them -- that it's not necessarily an all or nothing situation?

I do lots of "anti-aging" stuff (and have fun doing it) and if I could get surgery for my jowls I'd do it in an instant. But since I'm not seeing that in the near future, I'm not letting it affect my life. I'm not wearing Bazooka Joe sweaters hoping people won't "notice".

People don't care what I look like, nobody is judging me. I would just prefer to see them (and other issues) not looking back at me from the mirror. But I'm not in denial, I'm not trying to look younger, I'm not letting these affect my life.

My hair is totally white -- I don't color it, but I DO wish it hadn't thinned so much. If there's nothing I can do, fine, but I'm doing a few things to see if there's an improvement.

We CAN embrace our age and yet still want to do little improvements here and there. We're at an age where we KNOW what is important, please don't underestimate us.

And I just want to point out that this isn't directed to any post or poster in this thread -- you've both just stated how you're viewing this issue. My frustration comes from those who want to tell the rest of us to believe and behave as they do. And I just got up on my soapbox after a long time of having it bother me.

And I'm really grumpy today -- can you tell I'm trying to stop smoking (again)? :-)

My cousin's hair thinned out quite a bit. She has a hair weave and it looks wonderful.
