Hey Chaz!
My mom is a swear-to-her-grave Wen Girl! She turns 60 this Fri and God bless her, Wen is one of her go-to products and she doesn't at all look like it. In fact, when we're out, people will *always* ask if we're sisters! (I know, cliche as that is, it's SO true - and there's 22 years difference between us!)
She had me start using Wen almost 18 months ago and that's all I use. Unlike my mom, I'm not a "girly girl" (much to her dismay!) So I use the conditioning cleanser - but I don't style my hair (ever) - I come out of the shower, I put some of the conditioning cleanser in as a leave-in, and my hair air dries. No other Wen products (they're not allowed in our house!) and no heat styling on my hair.
I'd hoped my hair would get stronger had thicker and look healthier with Wen, right? It's not. My hair feels more brittle, straw-like and broken. I'm getting desperate. My mom's hair is beautiful and healthy and mine is awful. Yes, I've gone to see my doctor and have had tons of tests (and still getting them) - but they swear they can't find anything that would be effecting my hair.
I'm looking and feeling older than my mom, Chaz, and it's depressing. My mom started me out on the 16oz bottles. I bought my first gallon (cucumber/aloe because my hair tends to get oily), I bought a second gallon. I just bought my third gallon last week. When you had the summer coconut/mango - my mom and I bought *tons* of them and stocked up over both seasons because I loved the scent and I have been hoarding them as my 'pick-me-up' scent. I also use pomegranate. I loved the pumpkin when you had it. Then the apple-caramel this year and the cranberry mint. I'm not tied to just the cucumber/aloe (the astringent one) - in fact, I tend to use that only as my first wash and then change to one of the more hydrating ones for the second wash and only when my hair is oily, otherwise, I use one of the other ones and I trade out (usually the pom because I know I can get refills of it any time during the year - but one of the seasonals if I need a 'boost' in my day for sure.)
Chaz, please help me. I've spent most of my life with long hair. I want to be a Wen girl and have the kind of healthy hair my mom has. I want to be able to do more with my hair than just "let it air dry" but it's so frustrating when it's so brittle and dry. What can I do? I watch you every time you're on QVC (my mom loves watching you so we do it together) and I see all the Wen girls and what you do with their hair with just a brush and the blowdryer (both of the blow dryers in this house are T3 Tourmaline dryers) and I get so discouraged when I try to do those things because my hair is in such horrible shape.
I don't want to be stuck in a short cut (I tried that - it looked horrible and I hated it). You're pretty much my last hope - I don't know where else to go. If anyone can help me get the great hair I want, I know it's you. I'm desperate, and this is the only way I know to reach out to you and ask for help. The past 6 years have been absolutely horrible in our family. Please help me take control of my hair become a Wen girl. I know that sounds like such a stupid little request, but when everything else in your life seems so out of control - sometimes it's the little things that would make the most difference.
Thank you so much in advance!
Jessica

Jessica...WEN is not for EVERYONE. Even though Chaz wants us to believe that.My hair does not respond to Wen... My Husband LOVES IT.So maybe you are one of US...and go back to using good old regular shampoo!

Also, Chaz mentions you at least have to do the styling cream after you wash. It's OK to air dry. But, he likens it to not putting on sunscreen, eventhough you've cleaned your face. I don't know why you say, the other WEN products aren't allowed in your house.
Personally, I would recommend 1-2 drops of oil mixed in with the styling cream and CC after you wash. Then air dry.

What I found is that after using Wen for a year, my hair can't tolerate the seasonals like they used to. If your hair is feeling dry and brittle and you're still using the seasonals I'd suggest stop using them and see if it helps. It sounds like it could be that your moisture and protein isn't balanced. Especially if you're using CA and POM with seasonals and you're getting dry brittle hair. I'd try Fig, it's the most moisturizing or even tea tree has more moisture than POM and CA.
One other thing, you really need to apply the leave in, in the shower in soaking wet hair. I only mention it because you said you get out of the shower and then apply. Most people have removed at least some water from their hair when they get out of the shower. What I do is apply in the shower and when I'm done, I hold my hair up and rinse my body so that any leave in that might have got on my skin is rinsed off.

I hate to break it to anybody who posts on here thinking that Chaz actually reads and/or communicates in this forum. He doesn't.
If you need help, want to ask him questions, comment about things to him, etc, it's best to contact his salon directly. Either by phone: (323) 467-6444, or by email (customerservice@chazdean.com). Please remember: If you email or call the salon, one of Chaz's staff will assist you, not necessarily Chaz himself.
You can also leave comments and questions on his Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/chazdeanfanpage) as members of his team will respond (i'm not sure if Chaz does too at times as it's usually Jillian or Yvonne who will respond to posts).

Oh no no - other Wen products are, just not other non-Wen products! Sorry that wasn't clear. My mom swears by all the Wen products. She has the oil treatments, the masks, the leave in, styling creams, etc and various other fragrances. I have to be really careful which fragrances I use because I'm allergic/sensitive to them (even when she uses them - if she uses the lavender or the sweet almond - she has to stay away from me until it dissipates because I can't breathe around her until it does). She truly is a complete Wen girl and her hair is amazing.
We've tried the styling cream on my hair (on wet hair) before - and I've tried the replenishing mist on it too trying to help. But these are good suggestions. I'll try mixing in the oil with the styling cream. Right now I'm back to just a pea-size amount of CC on soaking wet hair as a leave in before I get out of the shower because nothing else seemed to help and then when I comb through, doing it with a wide-tooth comb (very gently) and air drying so there was no heat at all on my hair.
Do you mix the cream with the CC? If so, how much CC & SC do you use with the oil? I don't want to put too much in my hair too. Remember, my hair gets oily fast. How often do you do this and how often do you wash your hair? Daily? Every other day?
Thanks again for the suggestions!
