@NycVixen wrote:Thanks @JeanLouiseFinch. Unfortunately, the lowest is $261.00.
I found a product called AZ Clear from Australia that has 20% Azelaic acid and has good reviews. With shipping of a little under $30 for 3 25g tubes it's only a little over $53.
My dermatologist it trying to find a coupon etc. to lower the cost. Tara skincare sells it but it's made in India and I'm apprehensive about that plus it costs $25 for a 15g tube of 20% Azelaic acid. The place I found takes PayPal so it's safer. I may go that route. Spending $300 ongoing is not tenable for me.
Unfortunately, there is no generic for Finacea Gel 15%. In Australia it's sold OTC.. I'd rather get it in the US so if anyone has other options please let me know.
You should be able to get the coupon yourself, google will help with that, most drug companies have a discount program. Any samples at the Dr's office for you?

The place to get the coupon mentioned is here: https://www.rosaceaconcierge.com/rosacea/coupon.php
This is Finacea's website.
Also use goordrx.com to find the lowest price in your area and then combine it with the coupon.
You get an even better discount if you do the foam vs. the gel. There is a coupon for both.
HTH!

Usually the docs have coupons or information on how to get it cheaper. Contact the makers of Finacea directly. There's usually a "If you can't afford your medication...." thing. And sometimes it depends on how the prescription is set up, what they used for the reason for getting it.

Try getting some prices from a supermarket pharmacy. They sometimes are much lower for the same drugs you can get at Walgreens or CVS.
I just priced out a medication and the lowest cost was from a supermarket pharmacy.

The problem I'm having is that most if not all the available coupons to reduce the cost straight from the manufacturer work only if the medication is covered by your insurance.
And the "if you can't afford your medication.." from the manufacturer only works if I don't have insurance, thus I'm ineligible to apply. Therefore, actually having insurance in this case is working against me. I'd be better off being uninsured!!!
In my case, my insurance company won't even cover it so I can't apply any of these coupons. I'm still waiting for my derm to get back to me. Hopefully, they can find it cheaper.

@NycVixen I think you misunderstand. You DO have insurance, correct? If so, then it does NOT matter if your insurance will not cover that particular medication- the coupons will still work. I know this from experience. I've had two medications my insurance will not cover but I used the coupons from the manufacturer that will give you a discount if you have insurance. Go to goodrx.com, find the lowest priced place in your area, call them and give them the coupon code from the website I posted and they will tell you what your actual cost will be. In my case with the two that my insurance did not cover, one was ZERO copay (down from $500), the other was $10 copay (down from a couple hundred dollars). HTH!

@HappyDaze Thanks for all your help.
Unfortunately, just checked with my pharmacy and the Derm got back to me. The lowest I'm able to get the medication down to is $261.
I'm been up for two days googling finding coupons and sent many to my pharmacy. For some reason, for this medication the price doesn't go down much. At this time, I'm exploring all my options but there aren't many that make it affordable in the US.
If I didn't have any insurance, I would be able to apply to Bayer's program but I'm insured.
The lowest price on goodrx.com for finacea is $261.

Can you get some samples from your derm to try it first before spendng big bucks for it? It may not agree with your skin.
There may also be a way for your derm to write the prescription so that insurance will cover it. I recall trying Finacea for rosacea and the way the script was written I got 3 tubes for one low co-pay. It didn't work on my persnickety sensitive skin but I hope it helps you.
