Help: Clarisonic and the Dermabrush

I bought Clarasonic in 2009 and last year it just stopped working; i had no recourse because it was no longer under warranty. Honestly, wondered if the unit itself was defective or the base/charger burned out. I was very disappointed b/c when I bought it, with tax, it was over $200 and I expected it to last longer than 2 1/2 years! I have vacuum cleaners I've purchased for less than that that are still working! Anyway, wondered if others had this problem as well? Also, saw the Dermabrush on HSN but can't find out whether it's a sonic product or not; it's very inexpensive and only $29. Any feedback out there?
