Heat protection while using WEN

Does anyone know if it is still necessary to use a heat protector while using WEN cleansing conditioner? After rinsing, I apply one-two pumps to leave in my long hair before blow-drying. I want to protect my hair from heat damage, but I don't want to weigh it down by using too much product. Thoughts?
