Re: Have you played around with tick tock's bold glamour filter?

All kidding aside, TikTok is China.  Guarantee you they are gathering your facial recognition.  Be careful with that.

@Jaspertimes  Bingo!  All kinds of data, for that matter.

Re: Have you played around with tick tock's bold glamour filter?

Never...only tick tock I know about is what my clock does...no Facebook, instant gram, you tube, any of that.  That's not my generation so I will leave that to the millennials.  My daughter showed me a few of those videos from the tick tock  and my comment...that's all so incredibly stupid and juvenile.  My son is a cyber security guy.  At 28, he does not participate in any of that. Too risky so...I will take his lead. I forbid my other adult children from ever putting my face on any of their social media accounts.  They do chuckle and say well mom, you're in your 60s so you and dad got no business on social media ha ha ha and we crack up laughing. This board is my only social media site.  Before my agency at work shut all external business on the computers down, folks were doing that stuff on their work computers.  Now I take my iPad to work and sometimes hop on here (like today) at lunchtime or when I get bored in my office.

@Jacie

I understand.  I'm relatively new to Tik Tok.  It has its "issues" but if you're any other social media and use Google it's no worse.  Just ask China (g)  Google owns me hook, line and sinker.  With 13 Google devices inside and outside the house, 6 of them with screens, I drank the Kool-Aid and like it.

Facebook is a def no!

Hi @Sooner

I'm not here to argue with anyone but if you use Google, Amazon, Alexa, Facebook and maybe more I'm not aware of, you're already totally exposed.

I won't argue that but what are they doing with our facial recognition?  A lot of AI devices have the ability to do more than they claim they do.  If you have Google or Alexa screen devices they COULD spy on you even tho they're not going to admit it, naturally.  A couple of years ago Alexa even got caught but played it off as an accident and it wouldn't happen again.  Employees got caught viewing footage.  I don't have a screen Alexa device.  Just one Alexa Dot on top of the fridge that adds things to my Amazon cart.  Google just hasn't got caught yet (as far as I know).

@monicakm I won't argue either, but the people I know in highest level IT security are my source.  And no, I won't engage with that web site ever.

Hey, I'm a boomer and love technology Smiley Happy

I'm sure there is a lot of stupid stuff on Tik Tok but it's FAR from all stupid and juvenile.  You can choose what topics you like.  I watch makeup, skincare, dogs, horses and recipe videos. A lot of the people I follow on YT are on Instagram and Tik Tok.  It's a different time.  Technology evolves.  You can pick and choose what you watch on social media platforms just like you can pick and choose what tv shows and radio stations you watch/listen to.  I've been a tech junkie for 30+ years.  Love it.  Some don't.  It's fine.  You Tube Shorts and Tik Tok are (to the end user) basically the same.  The differences only exist if you're a content creator.
