Re: Has anyone else's Clarasonic brushhead soured?

I've never had that problem..... Could it be your cleanser? Perhaps a defective brush head if your previous ones never had the problem. I just rinse mine, nothing special. I do remove the brush and inspect the inside every once in a while too.

I don't think it's cleanser, but I guess it could be? I actually bought the new brushhead because my old one was sour. So I figured it was either too old or I hadn't let it dry properly or something. But the new brushhead turned sour too. I was using philosophy cleanser on the first one, but have been using cerave or cetaphil currently. So I don't know. It's just weird. But I'm going to try the alcohol and hope it works!

Thanks everyone!

So sorry skh47 for the delay getting back to you!! Haven't had a chance to get back on until now. What I do is soak the brush head in a small container of alcohol--enough to cover it. The Mia I stick into a container filled with enough of the alcohol to submerge the head of it where the brush goes. Afterwards I rinse well and it works for me. Hope it solves your problem!

I use the philosophy with mine. Before and after cleansing I put a small about on the brush head to clean mine. I always tap mine on a clean bath cloth to get the excess water out then allow to air dry.

I haven't had that happen & I don't do anything special to mine. Is it an actual Clarisonic brush head or a generic?

Re: Has anyone else's Clarasonic brushhead soured?

This has happened to me a couple times. I planned on tossing it, but had to wait a week before I could get replacements. As a last ditch effort, I tried cleaning it with my Purity Made Simple. Put a quarter-sized dollap in my palm, wet the brush & went to town on the palm of my hand! Gave it some decent pressure to push the cleanser into the brush. Rinsed well & let it dry- bristles up without the lid. No more funky odor!! I had always rinsed the brush well & taken it off the handle to dry with the cap on, but still got an odor a couple times. Now I clean the brush this way at least once every couple weeks.

I haven't tried the alcohol yet, but when I get out tomorrow I plan to purchase some and give it a try! Thank you for the suggestion!

I soak mine in very weak bleach and water solution maybe every other week to kill germs. I don't have acne or other issues or I would do it more frequently.

Re: Has anyone else's Clarasonic brushhead soured?

Wow, that is a shame! I hope some of the suggestions the ladies gave you will help. Could it be an issue of hard/soft water at your home? Wonder if you have called Clarisonic themselves to ask about this problem? Just a thought.

I have had my Mia 2 for two years now. I only change my heads every six months (I alternate between the normal and deep clean brushes)...only rinse it well with water and shake it really good after each use, then air dry. This has never happened to me. I use PTR and Perricone facial cleansers.

Good luck to you! Those brushes are too expensive to have that happen.

Re: Has anyone else's Clarasonic brushhead soured?

I use Purity with mine, and rinse it in super hot water after I use it and kind of squeeze the bristles before I set it back in the charging tray as mentioned by the above poster. Have never had an odor problem. I do change mine every 4 months or so, and use authentic brush heads.

I live in the Houston area, so if something were going to be affected by humidity, you would think it would be here!

All the suggestions- vinegar, alcohol etc sound like good ones. Hope one of them works for you!
