Recently I received a new haircare kit from HSN made by Carol's daughter. It's called goddess strenght and it's for weak hair. It has a shampoo, conditioner (which I have not tried yet), a leave in cream (which I have tried, and liked) and a scalp/hair oil which I tried for the first time yestereday. And OMG what a disaster! I followed the instructions and must have used 5000 times more than they intended. My hair rapidly develped grease slicks in the areas I applied to my scalp. It was running down my face. It was so greasy I couldn not believe it! I tried mopping it up with tissues, a towel, dry shampoo, to no avail. My hair looked wet all day and night. I didn't want to shower again so I put up with it. I slept with a turbie twist on my head to protect the linens. When I woke up this morning and took it off I looked like I had been caught up in the Exxon Valdez oil spill. My partner took a look and me and said, your hair looks great! Took two shampoos to get it out. Anyone else has ordered this kit and knows how to use the oil? I have never looked so bad in my life as I did yesterday!

"It has a shampoo, conditioner (which I have not tried yet)"
"I followed the instructions"
Apparently you didn't. You left out the 2 key ingredients.

I have not used this particular product, but have had success with a boatload of her other things.
Lisa Price has a facebook page, perhaps you can reach out to her and ask for the best process to gain the results you desire.
She loves to inform folks and I'm sure she can steer you in the right direction.
Good luck, and hey - just an fyi - I've worn coconut oil slicked in my locks and gone to work with my hair soaked with it.
I just wide combed it all back into a low bun and carried on as though - 'YEA' - I wanted it to look that way!
I looked silly - but I owned it! *wink*. ![]()

@Grouchomarx This is how I use hair oils....
put a few drops... say 5 into the palm of your hand and rub your hands together to evenly distirbute the oil on your hands...
It really depends on the length and the type of hair you have as to how may drops you need... curly hair needs more than fine hair... short hair less than long hair etc... it might take a few attempts as to how many drops is the right amount of oil for your hair.
Then, run your fingers through your hair out to the ends.. I have long hair..so I run it though my hair while bending over.. and twist my hair and bring the oil to the ends..
Do not concentrate on the scalp.... as you brush your hair the oil will distribute more evenly to the scalp. And if you put too much on the scalp it will look greasy.
Hope this helps some!

Thank you that is so helpful! I will try again tomorrow since I don't have to go anywhere in public.

Not specific to this kit, but when I use oil it is just dabs. I just put rosehip on my face and rubbed the residual bit in the hair.

I have not used that particular brand, but I do use WEN oils regularly. What you need to find out is if this oil is to be used, i.e. designed/intended for the hair or for the scalp.
The oil I use is for my scalp, so I apply it to my scalp, and leave it for several hours, but I do it on a Saturday when I know I'm in for the rest of the day. The oil starts on my scalp, that's where I apply it and rub it in, but it does slowly run down my hair shafts, so my hair looks greasy, and I don't care, I want my scalp saturated with it.
If the oil you used was intended to treat your hair, then it sounds like you just used too much, and the poster who mentioned rubbing a small amount of oil on her palms and then distributing it through her long hair gave you a good tip on how to get a glossy shine from hair oil without getting a grease slick. It all depends on whether the oil is supposed to be used on the scalp to treat it, or on the hair as a glossing treatment.

It's called a "scalp and hair oil". It said to use the pointy applicator tip to apply to the scalp, then rub it in. Guess I just need to dial the dosage way back.

If it's for the scalp, then you are probably destined to be greasy after use. I use WEN tea tree oil to promote hair growth, so I use several droppers of it, applied with the dropper in lines across my whole scalp and then rub it in with my fingertips. Over the hours, though, it does creep down the hair shaft, so I look greasy. That's why I use it on the weekend when I am in for the day. If you don't want to look greasy, you'll have to use a
lot less of it and only on the mid-shaft to ends of your hair, not the scalp. Oil on the scalp will always make your hair look greasy, there is just no way around it, no matter how little you apply, I'm afraid. Good luck, I hope you find a way to use this oil that benefits your hair!

@Grouchomarx Unless mistaken, the Carol's Daughter line is for very thick, dry, curly hair. If you don't fall into that category, these are not the correct products for you. May I ask were you looking for a hair oil? A new S&C to try?
