When I was first diagnosed with Rheumatoid I was prescribed methotrexate, my hair started falling out by the handful. I was told to eat eggs, fatty fish and berries. I don't know if it helped but it seemed to, along with the biotin.
I just want to say congratulations, you are a very special and beautiful person! Keep going, you got this!!

@hyacinth003 Bless you for what you've undergone!
I just want to share 2 old-time hair growth remedies. This one came from a druggist eons ago when my mother had operations and was losing her hair. Then when my father also had operations, she did it for him, with much success: massaging olive oil onto the scalp.
My personal treatment is rosemary oil. But that may be too strong full strength for some. Perhaps to use a carrier oil (like olive oil or coconut oil) with it, and massage that onto the scalp.
Also B vitamins, which seems to make my hair grow out very quickly.

@hyacinth003 When I finished chemo my hair grew back fairly quickly and I was fortunate to have it return to somewhat the same as it was before, just not quite as thick.
My take on this is not to take any products for it and let it grow naturally in. Your body has just been through a serious intake of chemicals so it needs time to heal from that.
Perhaps the vitamins you mentioned would be okay if your doctor approves. Stay away from any other chemicals/treatments at least for awhile. I wore a wig (and I hated it) until I was cleared to color my hair. Not that I had a lot of gray but I wanted to cover what I did have when I was able to show my short hair to the world.
As far as looking in the mirror, I get it, as I would walk by it and say who is that person??
It's okay, you are you and that's all that matters.........I can even laugh a bit about it now.

I find it very interesting reading the comments on this post--so many of us have gone thru or going thru this horrible disease and everyones journey is so different yet the same. Some of the comments made are way off base due to lack of first hand knowlege and I pray to the almighty, they NEVER have to go thru cancer, so I can forgive some of the wacky responses. I LOVED my wigs!! They were all my dream styles and colors. I wore light weight knit hats and dolled them up with pretty scarves. I made sure when I went out, that I put on eyebrows and eyeliner---I was pale as a ghost with just 2 dark brown eyes----that's when I got the --"Oh you poor dear" looks. I didn't consider myself sick--I just had a bit of cancer and doing those few things made it easier to look in the mirror. BTW--I draw on awesome eyebrows
This is my 11th year after dx, and surgery and treatments. My wonderful oncologist proclaimed me CURED of cancer last June. I still have side effects from everything--not alot of fun to go thru, but compared to what could have been--I'll take it!!
So my wish for any of you that are starting this wild ride, or going thru it now or have jumped off and landed on your feet---be kind to yourself and pat yourself on the back--ya done good!!!
BRAVO--you are my heros!!!

@hyacinth003. I wish you good health. This disease hits everyone differently. But, it's all bad. My heart aches especially for the children and their parents.
My hair is just starting to grow back. It's also looking a bit salt and pepper. My oncologist told me that when hair grows back it can be a different color and texture. Mine is about an 1/8 to a 1/4 inch now. I do have a wig but I prefer wearing a scarf. I really don't go out very often; I'm afraid of getting sick.
I don't know of any supplements, but, I wish you well on this journey.

Just play it out. It will grow back on it'[s own. Been there done that. And think about it. You will have virgin hair again. Please don't stress over it.

I'm happy for you that you're doing better. I have no experience in this area, but Denis Simioni claims he came out of retirement to create products for his mom who had been diagnosed and treated. You may want to investigate his line, Tweak'd by Nature. It's sold on QVC and HSN. He often runs special so watch for them.

@hyacinth003, wishing you all the best in your recovery, be gentle and loving with yourself. I am learning to to that in general. Keep us updated on your hair growth.

Losing my hair to chemo was the worst part of having cancer and treatments. I would rather be in pain then not have hair.
