I have hair breakage and also use WEN and love it, but I recenlty discovered Carol's Daughter Monoi Breakage Spray that you use as a leave-in and it has really helped.. I love it and it smells good too. I can where my hair is starting to grow back(burned a small area with my curling iron)....

I don't heat style or color my hair, I only air dry and I have breakage too, and I haven't found anything that completely fixes my problem. My hair is fine to normal, naturally blonde, wavy and dry, and it breaks and it's so annoying! Carol's Daughter Monoi Shampoo, Conditioner & Anti-Breakage spray has helped my hair the most out of everything I've tried. I also use the mask. The Anti-Breakage Spray is nice because it really helps your comb glide right through the hair. I also use leave in conditioner and add a a couple drops of argan oil to it. My hair is parched without anything.
I've recently noticed more breakage again and it's so frustrating, especially with it being more humid out because my hair really looks frizzy with the breakage. I think it's just my hair type and I'm not sure there's really anything more that can be done. If there is, please help!

Also I used to sort of scrub my hair with shampoo, now I gently work it through almost like I do conditioner, to avoid any extra breakage.

It is my understanding that hair that breaks easily is dry and thirsty for moisture. Since you color and manipulate your hair a lot with products, you might want to try a deep moisture masque with a plastic cap under a hooded dryer for 30 minutes once or twice a week. This should help, but you should also integrate moisturizing shampoos, conditioners, and leave in conditioners and eliminate hair products with drying alcohol ingredients. I hope that helps you.

Oops, one more thing. I forgot to mention, watch your protein-moisture balance. Protein is best used when your hair is overly moist (stretches like silly string). Moisture is best used when your hair breaks and snaps quickly. Just check your product labels to determine what they are recommended for. Good luck. I know this problem can be frustrating, especially when you want length.

Which WEN formula are you using? You might want to switch to Fig if you haven't tried that. I have wavy-curly color treated hair and I have to use Fig for the moisture. I can get away with a seasonal for a while, but I can't use any other formula for more than a few washes unless I add Fig to it, either by mixing or by using Fig for the second wash.
You might also want to try adding a Remoist treatment or some oils and looking into your hair spray, mousse, and the volumizing treatment mist. The VTS has a lot of alcohol in it, and not the fatty kind. If you use that and a hairspray with alcohol, it can be drying.
