What would you smart ladies of this board do?? My stylist can cut really good layers and my hair grows out really pretty....but right after I get it cut, I look horrible! It takes like 2 weeks to "grow" into the hair cut which is layers with bangs at my shoulders (which I want to let grow longer). Has anyone else felt this way?

Yup, same here, except I never thought I looked horrible. I just always got (& still get) frustrated that I can't get the same results when drying & styling. But then I'm not a pro, either.

Go back to your stylist and explain just what you said--- She is probably cutting shorter than you would like it. Wait an extra month before you go back so that it is longer when you get there.

Or, you could go to a different place and explain and see what they do. It sounds like they think you want it shorter than you do. Can you bring a picture?

KayinMN,

Suggest you search around for another stylist. Each time we moved, I'd go searching for a hairdresser. Sometimes, it would take me months to find someone. I've been extremely lucky on this new move as I found someone almost immediately and he does a fabulous job. You might want to get pictures of a style/cut you like and take it with you the next time you get a hair cut; otherwise, I'd be looking for someone else.

Yes, I've always hated the way my hairdressers do my hair. All of them. Right now my hair is so gray you wouldn't believe it. I've been wearing a wig for a few months!

I need to get it dyed but I don't know about going back to my most recent hairdresser. I'd like to go back to the one before her but she has issues.

What to do? What to do?

I agree that it sounds like your stylist is cutting your hair shorter than you would really like. I think that is an easy problem to fix if you just tell the stylist how you feel right after your cut. Seems that you really like her skill at cutting and I think that is worth holding on to. She probably doesn't know how you feel if you haven't told her. Most stylists are very willing to adjust to please their clients.

I just got my hair cut today and love the way it looks. Wish I could blow it dry like my stylist does because it looks so cute but she does have a big advantage over me. She's a pro and she gets to see the 360 view as she styles. I was really lucky to find a great stylist by sheer luck when I moved here in 1977. I have followed her from salon to salon all these years and hope she never retires. Thankfully she is at least 10 years younger than me so I'm safe for now. I get my hair cut every 4 weeks because it grows really quickly and I can't stand bad hair days. If you want to try to find a new stylist, ask women whose hair you like who they go to rather than just taking a chance on someone new. I have 3 or 4 girlfriends who now go to Joyce because they admired my hair and they are also very happy with her.

Good luck! Hope you find a way to get great hair every day.

After spending tons of money/time on bad hair dues/cuts.....I always came away unhappy....even though I came out with a smile.......I knew to stop this......I went to Sally's and bought the 5 1/2"" shears.....cut/trim the bangs/bottom.....hair/style looks great.....colour???? Not sure about that yet.....

I finally found a stylist I like. I tried about half a dozen to find her. Now, I'm crossing my fingers she doesn't move. That's what always happens to me. I finally find someone I really like, and then they move out of town :-)
