Re: Hair Shedding / loss post Covid

I've started to struggle with this.  I assumed it was my estrogen supression drug.........but I also had covid last year. My diet has also changed since I started mounjaro.

I was going to see if I could get tested for vitamin deficiencies at a lab.......out of pocket.

Check your blood pressure. HBP (even slightly high) can cause hair loss by stressing the blood vessels which feed hair follicles, robbing them of the nutrients needed to maintain growth. That happened to me and my hair hair has grown back somewhat since I went on BP med but I still struggle with hair loss b/c of an autoimmune disease.

Re: Hair Shedding / loss post Covid

The hair naturally has a yearly or semi yearly shed.  So,e uears we don't notice it much and some yearsWOW, we think this is it, next week bald.  Some people, like me seem to drop the hairs almost all at once.  Some over a period of a month. This happened to everyone, then retro with. Some people like me as well it can be due to auto immune disease like RA, lupus, MS and even vitamin D Loss after the cold winter months with no sun light .  There is always age, and hereditary hair loss, look at your parents.  Usually for women this happens after menopause.  Men earlier sometime. some things I check are

surgery with anesthesia

demtal work with anesthesia

deep shock or traumatic event (death, accident etc)

depression

vitamin related, but this isn't often but does happen with certain GI diseases

,educations. Blood pressure meds being a culprit so,etimes

anyway lots of things. If it lessens in a couple weeks, fine. If continues see Dr or dermatologist

I had COVID-19 in 2021 and about 2 months later my hair started falling out in handfuls. I took photos of all the lost hair every time I washed it. It was horrific. I saw a dermatologist who basically was no help and said it would have to run its course. That didn't help my panic. I did a lot of research and started using a hair oil, Pura Dor hair thinning shampoo, and purchased a Theradome cap. Very slowly the hair was coming out less as I washed it, I continued to take photos to prove it to myself. It took about six months for the shedding to slow down to normal shedding. My finally turned back to normal after that. I had some thin spots on my crown and used Clairols hair touch up powder. I also cut my hair to shoulder length, about 3 inches off my length. Cutting it really helped it look better and I have kept it this length since then. I really like it. Hang in there!!

@wifey2qt  My hair re-thickened after Covid. It took a few months & it re-thickened on its own. In the meantime, I had a different haircut.

Re: Hair Shedding / loss post Covid

I had covid in 2020, and my hair came out a lot for years.  It is better now but never back to what it was, but it may be aging.

According to some here I have sinned and let myself go.  Meaning I don't have a great haircut and my hair is white/silverish.

I feel good, my face has never looked better because I quit using so much anti-aging stuff on it, and I am at a good weight now.

All from letting myself go and taking a break from the rat race at nearly 70.
