Hair Extensions

Are there any professionals or anyone who has had experience with hair extensions? I have a bit shorter than shoulder length hair, all one length. I had a haircut that I do not love and can not seem to get used to. I want it to grow, I take biotin and I am hoping that it will help. I was considering getting extensions to increase the length. I do not know where to begin. I do not have a regular stylist or know anyone who knows anything about this kind of thing. Obviously this would be a temporary thing/fix, hopefully when I take them out I would see some hair growth on my own hair. Is there upkeep with extensions, if so how often? How long do they last? How much do they cost? I had my hair cut to get rid of past damage. I do not want anything more that will remotely cause damage to my natural hair. If it is expensive, I do not know if it will be worth with it to me. Also I do not want something that I have to take in and out daily.
