I get a few face framing highlights and roots covered and in between time, usually twice I get a root touched up. The last few minutes hair dresser pulls color through the bottom of my hair, avoiding the highlights and then applies toner to all. Well now I’m due for a root touch up but can’t get an appt with my usual stylist for MANY more weeks. Do you think it matters ( if I go to another stylist) that my roots will be done with a different brand and color. Do you think the colors could blend without being noticeably different? I have no idea what colors my stylist uses in roots, highlight or toner. Any advise? TIA.

@Summer Shine Sorry for your predicament. A new stylist most likely won't even come close to what you usually get. Is there another stylist in the same shop that your regular person could instruct? Good luck.

I would not try anyone new.....I've been down that road.

Question: Is the other stylist in the same salon? If so, not a big deal. If not, i agree it won't be the same.

Same shop and ask your hairdresser what she used the others should be able to do it.
(That’s why I cut and color my own. Hate appointments and want it done when it needs it).

If you go to the same shop your stylist should have your information available to the other stylists. That's one reason why I always re-book my appointments before I leave to ensure I get my gal. And if she's not going to be available, I can choose a time when she is there.

@Summer Shine Learn to book your next appt. before you leave the salon. You can always cancel if you need to but you will have the appt. with the girl you always go to.

Before I left for winter in Florida, I asked my stylist for the brand and color # that she uses on my hair.
Found a salon in FL that uses that brand. Color was perfect but my stylist had to fix the uneven cut. The haircut looked fine to me but she pointed out the issues.
I always book my appt. on the slow weekday: less confusion and noise. Very relaxing for stylist and me !

Even if in the same salon - if the stylists rent their space, they may not share the color info with others (at least in my salon they do not). So that isn’t always possible.
Also - always making the next appointment doesn’t always work; my former stylist once had a terrible personal tragedy and was of course out (with no notice) for several months. All scheduled appointments had to be canceled and of course I completely understood.
OP - if you can wait for her to return, I’d try to do that. It would drive me crazy though to need it done, so I feel your pain.
