HEP (Healthy Eating Program) – December 2014

Hey, all you HEPcats and HEPdogs! We had discussed making the Healthy Eating thread a monthly jam session, so I just went ahead and did a little improvisation. This is an invite to our crazy crib where you can come and break it down! I say we go 18 karat on this and really swing. If healthy eating’s not your bag, no problem. But if it is, I dig.

It’s cool, I’m booted, let’s jump!

Okay, I admit that cat is a little creepy.

Kept it simple for Thanksgiving and it was fab (even though it was a day late because I worked the holiday). Steamed Brussels sprouts, mashed potatoes, cornbread/wild rice stuffing, cranberry sauce with rosemary, and a fresh turkey from the butcher. I don't think I'll ever buy a frozen bird from the grocery store again.

Never prepared the yams because there was already enough. Wow -- that turkey made all the difference. Thank you, hen! And thank you, Better-half, for cooking while I snoozed.

Re: HEP (Healthy Eating Program) – December 2014

Last night Better-half and I were talking about those who live in cold climates and the need to stock up on foods that don't spoil -- you know, things like canned soups. I mean, who wants to "run" to the market for romaine when it's sixty below?

So, if you find yourself eating a lot of casseroles or depending on food in cans and boxes, don't be so hard on yourself. 'Tis the season. Wink
