I've used Color Oops before to remove too dark color from my hair. I didn't get it too dark, the school did, and once you're too dark you just have to wait for it to fade out. Color removers do not give you back your natural color. When you color your hair, you actually lighten it a little depending on the peroxide used and then deposit color. So, when you remove the color, it returns to that lighter shade, which often is not an attractive color depending on your undertones. The idea is that you remove the color and then immediately re-dye it the color you want.
Damaging? Yes, especially since you re-color your hair which is also damaging. But, I felt it was less damaging than washing my hair over and over with Dawn or Prell. I did not immetiately re-color my hair since it came out more straw colored than the expected orange that people often have trouble getting past when trying to go blonde. Besides, my arms were dead from all the scrubbing time required.
I looked at Go Grey on Amazon, and the ingredients are similar to Color Oops. It has a few more ingredients, one being a surfactant (Cocamidopropyl Betaine) derived from coconut oil. However, it has also been associated with irritation and allergic dermatitis. A patch test is warranted. Also, you need to be ready to scrub your hair for 20 minutes.

Same with the women that choose to color their hair being shamed. I have often read cracks about not being "authentic " if you color your hair.
My motto? To each their own. Nice that in 2024 we can do whatever makes us happy.😊
@Trinity11 , I remember someone here saying "You're not fooling anyone". I've never tried to fool anyone. I'll flat out tell you I color and perm, and yet people who have known me for years think my hair is naturally curly. I've had many compliments on my hair from all age groups and some have even asked if it's natural. Not knowing whether they're asking about my color or the curls, I just say "There ain't nothing natural about my hair" and laugh.

@Icegoddess 20 minutes is out!
I think I will just use a clarifying shampoo because I know that does work at lightening the color, it's done it before on my hair and see how it goes.

I colored my hair red for 33 years and towards the end of that period I had do my roots every two weeks. I went to my stylist with my decision and got a very short pixie and then another good cut 1 month later; that was it! A year later it was chin length and now varies between shoulder and shoulder blade length. Its silver/white and( surprise ) naturally curly. My hair care costs are shampoo and conditioner ( bought scissors, thinning shears at Amazon and taught DH to cut it). I get frequent compliments and all I had to do was adjust makeup colors a bit.

my hair care is so inexpensive now! Compared to the many years of coloring and perming. I was getting cuts every four weeks too. I've grown it into a chin length bob, only get a shaping trim every four or five months at super cuts. No perm no color. Just grey fine textured hair with a slight wave. I am 72. I think I look 72 which doesn't bother me.

Don't judge me but I don't have grey hair on my head. With that said, I very much often sport facial like a goatee. THAT is where I'm going gray! To counter act this I just use water proof mascara! It works!
