Gel or acrylic nails??

Needs some opinions ladies . . . I'd like to try artificial nails and I need to know do I want gel or acrylic? I prefer a more "natural" appearance but I'm not sure which to choose. I'm assuming I can chose the length I want regardless of which nail I pick, correct? Any input on your experience would help. Thank you!!
