I wear sandals nearly all spring & summer except at the gym where I wear sneakers. Sometimes the polish on my toes (from a standard pedicure) chip when wearing closed toe footwear (sneakers).

Will a gel pedicure help prevent this & do they last longer than a regular pedicure?

@nycalady ..........Yes the gel toenails will last just as long as your fingernail gel.  A nail tech mistakenly gave me gel polish on my toes and it lasted until my next pedi, which regular polish does not.  BTW they did not charge me extra to remove the gel polish because it was a mistake on their part.

I dont get the gel toenails because its a extra $20.00 to get the polish removed at the salon I go to.

@nycalady  in my opinion they last a little too long..

I like to change polish often, but the gels last so long and are still looking great

that I  feel like I'm not getting my" money's worth " out of them. If you go a bit between pedis or on vacation they are definitely worth it, gels hold up exceptionally well with closed toe shoes as well.

Re: Gel Pedicure Question

@nycalady    The gel does last longer.  The only time I have issues with it chipping is in the summer when I spend a lot of time in the pool.  I guess the chlorine takes a toll on it.  But, like other posters mentioned, some people can't hardly get it to wear off.  My mom says that about gel polish too lol.

I have used the gel pedicure for years but started having problems with my big toe becoming infected.  Then I read when you use gel on your toenails the nail is not able to bend and move when shoes are on......I use regular nail polish now and hopefully fixes my problems.

I just get a regular pedicure, but, once a week I put a coat Seche Vite top coat on at home. It’s very affordable and my nail polish lasts a long time using it.
