Foundation Shade Comparisons

My Sephora order came in.  I pulled out the Armani foundation to look at it and it looked a little dark.  Compared it to my bottle of Nars Sheer Glow and it still looked a little dark, but I know that the shade looking at the outside of the bottle might not be accurate, so I tried to do a shade comparison.  First, I put a small dot of each Nars, Fenty, & Armani, on my hand.  The Fenty being thinner, it spread out before I could get to my phone and bring the camera up.  Left to right is Nars, Armani, Fenty.

Next I swatched each on my inner arm using those drops and let dry since the color changes slightly as it dries.

It does dry down slightly darker than both the Fenty and the Nars.  I wore it today without the addition of the Fenty Drop L'it drops and it has a nice finish.  I haven't looked at pics with it applied yet compared to the other two.

Re: Foundation Shade Comparisons

Yes, but you are not wearing foundation on yiur hands or arms. You have to put it on your face near your jaw line.

Because of driving etc, my hands and arms are not the sane colir as my face,

In the top photo the one on the left looks to be not only lighter, but a lot cooler than the one on the right.

I have a cool toned complexion so I am always looking for not only foundations but clothing, etc. that has a cool tone to it.

@haddon9, it could be my LED lighting, but the one on the left is Nars Sheer Glow in Light 2 Mont Blanc,  It's supposed to be a Neutral.

The pictures you post (wearing foundation) are always so beautiful and your foundation looks very well matched to your skintone, these swatches all look so yellow on your hand and arm.  I realize that you normally wear one of these, the nars looks closest to me.

@LizzieInSRQ I wasn't doing a color match.  I was comparing the shade of a new foundation to the 2 foundations that I already have and wear.

ETA: My big test is at the hairline, not the jawline.

@Icegoddess  what a great idea you had with your photography comparisons. It's NARS all the way for me.

I would repeat the experiment along your jawline or hairline, but make about a two inch square for each one onto the face. These larger patches should help make the decision easier since they are where you will wear the foundation. Good luck.

@Icegoddess

I agree w/ person who wrote the foundation you've been using always looks fabulous on you.

I also look more at hairline than jaw line for color match. I hate when the foundation is darker than my scalp/part line.

@persiflage, thanks.  Yes, it's the Nars that I have been wearing for awhile.  I got nervous last time I went to Sephora to get a new bottle and they told me they would no longer be selling it in stores.  To me, that meant it could be going away soon, so I decided to try a couple of other options.  I remembered years ago looking at the Armani but had no way at the time to get a close match.  There is a similar shade that looks to be cooler, says it has pink undertones.

It might be that my inner arms are sooo light that causes them to look yellow or the lighting.  The Nars doesn't look yellow on my face, and I don't think the Fenty does either.  I posted a pic here in another thread with them both on my face side by side.
