Foundation Help

I've been doing the same foundation routine for as long as I can remember. A liquid foundation (right now cover girl) and then a light brushing of the CG loose powder. I want to use something different (and better) and was considering the bareMinerals orginal foundation and mineral veil. I don't like a cakey, heavy feeling of foundation make-up but I do need somewhat of good coverage. Is this the right direction to go in? Any recommendations?
