I read several places that you should not put foundation all over your face. That you should

only use it to even out skin in places that need it. Not to wear a full face of makeup.

I have always worn foundation all over my face!! Seems odd not to. But it says it looks better and doesn't settle into fine lines etc.

Which way do you wear the makeup??

Re: Foundation-Do you do this?

I've always worn foundation all over too. What I would give to not have to wear any! I have been thinking lately that I should try a good concealer to put on problem areas and try to skip foundation since foundation is supposed to make you look older, at least heavy foundation is.

Re: Foundation-Do you do this?

I've never used foundation all over my face, only on areas that need it. This way, my natural glow shows & imperfections don't. Some days, concealer is all I need. Some days I need nothing. I do like a very light dusting of BE bronzing mineral veil on though.

Re: Foundation-Do you do this?

I believe that in concept, but your foundation color has to be spot on with your complexion to pull that off or else I think your face will look spotty. I agree that as you get older most foundations do settle in fine lines & make them look worse so a very light hand is needed & for most powders are out. I have dry skin & just a few lines around my mouth so I try to keep it very slight around them. Currently I use Revlon's whipped creme foundation & it looks natural on me compared to everything else I"ve tried (and I could open a store with products that don't deliver what they claim).

And yes, some of us NEED a full face of foundation. I think we pale girls are more prone to redness which, on me, is all over. Nobody wants to see how pink I am!!!

I always apply with a damp sponge and blend with my fingers all over my face. I guess you could apply it where needed because you do that with concealer.

Re: Foundation-Do you do this?

I think if you only put foundation in certain spots it would look funny because you would be able to see where the foundation was and wasn't. I vote NO to this idea. The point of foundation is to give you a smooth palette so your skin looks flawless - having blotches of foundation here and there would not create that smooth, flawless look.

I don't think foundation makes you look old unless you use too heavy a hand applying it. I have always used MU very lightly. I believe less is definitely more with MU.

Professional makeup artist Lisa Eldridge has a wonderful video series on foundation. I highly recommend watching all of them, but your question is answered and demonstrated in the video on foundation application:

Re: Foundation-Do you do this?

I only use it on areas that need it and that changes over time. Sometimes I only need it to cover red areas around my nose other times I only need it to cover discoloring from a healing breakout. My face looks much more natural this way. I've tried a full face in the past but never liked the look, too mask like. I just apply where needed and blend it out.
