For those who work from home...

I just got a job that is 100% remote. I have never had such an arrangement before. In my previous job, I could work from home one or two days a week.

For those of you who work from home, do you get dressed each day as if you would be going into an office or do you sit around in your jammies? Do you do your hair? Your makeup?

I think that I'll dress in comfy clothing (leggings and t-shirts). I will shower first thing in the morning and do my hair and at least a little makeup. I think that I will take the job more seriously if I do this.

Re: For those who work from home...

I work one day from home and I do take a shower, but I wear comfy clothes. I do not wear a lot of makeup at home, but I do put some on - just because I like to!! I do blow dry and style my hair with a brush, but I don't obsess over it like I would if I was going into the office.

there are times when I get up on those days and I get caught up in my work that I don't take a shower right away - so I may work a few hours in my pj's - but I do get into the shower at lunchtime.

I do make myself take a lunch hour when I work from home - it is easy not to. That said, the days I work from home, I do put in more hours, just because I do not have to commute

You are so lucky. I loved working at home. Until recently I worked at home, nearly 4 years.

I got up & dressed, including make-up almost every day. I did wear comfy clothes. Once in a while I'd stay in my PJs.

At breaks & lunch I loved being able to do some chores, watch the hummingbirds in the backyard.

Re: For those who work from home...

My last job allowed me to work from home 3 days/week and I loved it!

On those days, I did my regular morning routine but put on "comfortable" clothes (e.g., jeans or sweat pants and shirt or sweater). I did NOT put on make up which was great -- allowed my face to "breathe" on those days.

What I missed: physical contact with other humans -- the other 2 days when I had to go into an office, I liked getting up from my desk and talking to other people in the office and sometimes going out to lunch with them.

I worked remotely for several years. I believe in getting dressed, even in casual wear, just not jammies. Brush out my hair, light makeup. I found it easier to make that shift to work mode.

I get dressed in comfortable clothes and brush my hair, but I don't always wear makeup.

I have worked from home for the last 10 years, there are days that are crazy and I start working before I shower and finally get into the shower around 11 am. I dress in comfy clothing and rarely wear makeup since I am the only one around here

Re: For those who work from home...

Hi - I've worked from home for over 10 years. I work for a very large company, and we have a lot of people who work remotely. I've found that people handle this in a lot of different ways, since there aren't any "rules" like there are in an office environment. I've found that for me, dressing (casually, nice jeans and sweater) and doing my makeup really are what I need to function effectively. I know a lot of people who work in their pajamas, but I've found that if I even dress down to sweats, I just don't feel as motivated to work. You'll find what works for you - just give yourself a bit of time to adjust. Enjoy!

I have your old arrangement. I work better in comfortable clothes. I've never seen the need to get all dressed up not to leave the house.

Re: For those who work from home...

I work from home 3-4 days a week and there are times I have to run into the office for something in a hurry so I like to take a shower and do my hair just in case. I usually put makeup on after lunch because I go out to run errands or just be around people since I live alone.

I typically wear comfy clothes and the genie bra all day.
