Thanks everyone for your replies. My skin can be very sensitive so I would not choose a prescription. I've tried different Paulas Choice retinol and only did a couple of times a week and my skin would be Tight and Dry and flakey. Now I've been using the Paulas Choice Resist Retinol Skin smoothing body treat on my face mixed with my CeraVe Moisturizer. When I spoke with Paulas Choice customer service they said this would be a good alternative for me.
I can say that my skin texture looks better and more clear but my skin doesn't have the glow it used to. It seems to be dull. So I'm just not sure if I want to continue to use it. Just wanted anyone's opinion on what there skin looks like with Retinol.

Consult Beaute on Evine has the highest % I have ever seen for OTC, his is 3% in the serum concentrate. . I used PTR and Dr Gross, neither did a thing for me.

Hi, I've been using prescription retina-a for over a year to up my game, so to speak. My dermatologist sings it's praises, but it can be a bit drying, esp in winter. So I just put a few drops of Josie's Aragan oil with it and problem solved! I told my dermatologist about adding the Aragan oil to retina-a, and she stated that was just fine--that it would not reduce its effectiveness whatsoever. A lot goes a long way, and it is very expensive, yet my FSA program reimburses me. I am still young and am using for prevention 10-20 years down the road. Give it a try.

It sounds like you are getting results, just need to fine tune your routine to make sure flakes are removed and your skin is properly moisturized and protected. For me, because I am no longer young, the "glow" in my opinion takes a lot of work. Due to the exfoliation factor of retinol/ retin A it can leave your skin looking flaky or dry. I also use a gentle exfoliant when necessary in the mornings daily to remove any peels. (Again, this is my opinion - some peeling is o.k., you can exfoliate that and reveal the skin beneath: redness or irritation is not). For dryness, look up "buffering" retin A. I listen to my skin and if necessary back off for a day or two. Also, I moisturize, use vitamin C for brightness, and work on the glow from the inside out with food and supplements.

I've never used any prescription but I too tried Dr. Gross, PTR and now Paula's Choice retinol. Not really sure any of them has had any noticeable effect (certainly not on wrinkles) but perhaps it is subtle. I recently saw a colleague who I hadn't seen in 2-3 years and he told me I didn't age (a great compliment). I also had a facial recently during an out of town mini vacation and the esthetitian was surprised at my age. I'm not sure it is because of retinol products but it might help. I've also been happy with the Elysee trio of serums I got on their last TSV that I use daytime.

I'm seeing a difference with Consult Beaute. I use the pads, serum, then cream, Regenerol line. I exfoliate every morning and use their caviar cleanser. My skin is glowing. No retinol I have ever used reduces lines or prevented new ones. I also have used Skinmedica 1% retinol. I am starting on their Ceramide cream, since I'm aggravated with Evine shipping, and Consult Beaute half filled jars. But I hope to stay with their pads, and serum. Now I want to mention...I went to my Derm for a filler consultation for my smile lines, and they made it clear...no cream will remove wrinkles or lines. They may add moisture to the skin and temporarily plump, but the deeper lines are from the facial skin folding in. Only a lift from fillers in cheeks or injected directly into lines will smooth it out. They said I have beautiful full skin...just need these lines out around mouth. I will continue to take care of my skin regardless. I also will have Juverderm done on the lines. I have lost volume in my face, and no retinol or cream is going to give that back.
Dr Dubrow says his Consult Beaute Volumagen line will help to bring the volume back, cant hurt to try it.
