@Krimpette wrote:The hairstyles I don't understand are the ones similar to Amy R on GMA. When I was a child, my mom gave me home permanents. If she didn't put the end papers all the way to the end, the ends of the hair would turn the wrong way. The look was awful and I hated it. That's what this "style" reminds me of. Why would some lovely women adopt scraggly, ugly hairdos? JMHO.
To each his/her own. I love Amy's hair.

I watch Fox and CNN and have never noticed this. Most of the women have gorgeous hair.

I'm sure there are many that like that style and probably wouldn't like OP's or many or the hairstyles we all have. You don't have to like understand anyone's hairstyle.

That is a great point. The OP recently posted a picture of her new haircut and it isn't something I particularly care for personally but she is happy with how it looks and that truly is all that matters. If we all wore the same styles, life would be pretty dull. I just don't understand questiong what others do with their hair. We will never all agree on what looks good and what doesn't!

I've noticed the trend...on many of the reporters it is not flattering. It's as if everyone has to have the same look. When I see a reporter with a shorter style, it usually looks much better than what I call the 'mermaid' look. Sleek on top with a flare or wave turned in at the bottom.

I'm voting for hair extensions. Highly likely the news person is wearing hair extensions.

I read an interesting article on the Racked website about why TV anchors and on air talent have the same look about them. From their visage, their hair, and their clothing -- they are molded and shaped by stylists and media consultants to improve and keep their tv station's ratings. It's why you see the same makeup, hairstyles, and for the women, the same jewel toned dresses -- the anchorwoman uniform.
