Re: Favorite moisturizing soap?

Congratulations on the new baby.

I have been using South of France Shea butter hand wash. It has really helped keep my hands from drying out. You can find it online.

I was using the hand wash from B&BW. It dries my hands out really bad. I stopped buying it.

I have to make sure I also keep applying moisturizer.

Congratulations on your baby!  I suggest a good hand cream after washing-- such as cerave or cetaphil.

Dr. Bonners.  You can find it in most grocery stores.  I've found the "travel size" ones at Marshall's a few times, if you want to try a small amount first.

Congratulations! I love any of the L'Occitane shea butter square soaps. They're triple milled, so they last a long time. They really keep your hands soft, but you can also follow up with a dab of their hand cream if necessary.

UPDATE: After reading through this thread, I realized some of the suggestions might benefit my husband. He had such bad psoriasis on his hands that an ER nurse commented on them recently. They looked raw - the skin was peeling off his palms. He’s tried all kinds of things, but nothing really worked. So I googled “long lasting hand creams” and found one called Coloplast Sween 24 Once a Day Moisturizing Body Cream. It doesn’t wash off when you wash your hands during the day. He applies it in the morning after his shower and before he goes to bed. You wouldn’t believe the difference it’s made for his hands. After a week, the skin began to look almost normal again. Now, a couple of weeks later, his hands look better than they have in years and he’s putting it on other psoriasis patches on his body. He likes it so well he’s ordering extra tubes to have on hand so he never runs out. I realize you asked for soap recommendations, but this might help if the soaps don’t work.

@StillRachBSo happy for you!

Congratulations.. new life!

About your hands, I find being a nurse, and having taken care of my dad and mom as well.

I needed something that would last well and protect, just like the baby's creams in a way that repel urine.

I saw this in a Drs. office bathroom then in a gift shop at the hospital when my dad was there.

It's called Gloves in a Bottle 'sheilding lotion' for hands.

They also have a smaller one for the purse you can refill.

I also love Skin Fix hand repair cream, it takes a little to really heal that kind of skin you have and my sister has as well...and mine which are dry.

One BIG thing to remeber is something I use ALL the time....vinyl medical gloves! I use them cooking, cleaning for chopping foods every day all day.

I had many when I was in hospice nsy. and they let us take as many as I needed I must have 20 boxes left but did buy 2 boxes for 10.00 with 100 in each box! Can't live without them ove the past 8 years. So keeping hands away from water is VITAL as much as possible.

Use the gloves....they have saved me and you will be hooked!

EDIT: omg I'm losing it lol! this is for soaps you had asked...but my post may help anyway I hope, soaps can do just so much. Most Bath and Body products are not so good for sore hands and dry body.

Re: Favorite moisturizing soap?

Look for 'invisible gloves' products on amazon. These are not moisturizers but creams that coat and protect your hands from repeated washings. You put it on right after you wash your hands then apply a moisturizer if needed. Then when you wash your hands again, the invisible glove cream will not wash away each time you wash your hands. Re-applying it every so often will insure it's purpose and will help keep your hands from drying out.

I agree with Goat Milk Stuff. Their Goat Milk products are amazing and all make me feel silky. I am also a huge fan of Curel products and they are easly found everywhere!

@StillRachB- Got that little tax deduction just in the nick of time, huh?  Seriously, though, congratulations!  I'm very happy for you.  I still use Beekman in the shower.  At the sink I'm using either BBW or Watkins and they're fine for me.  You might consider the hand cream you use instead of your soap.
