My hobbies which I am about to outgrow are drag racing and flying.  Trust me, my plane only seats 4 and one seats only 2 (stunt plane) but I have worked on these for years and build most of them myself in my shop and garage.  Planes are now in hangars and car in still in the garage waiting for summer race season to start.  I am certainly not rich but just plugged along on these through the years (and I have had a few LOL).

I call it the Thrill of Adventure.  I have one plane called The Bahama Mama because that was the furthest I could fly her without more fuel.  Getting old so I am not into the stunts like I was for many years of my life but can't make myself sell my plane.  At retirement time, If my children have no interest I will probably sell.

I have one other BAD habit and that is antique car shows.  Yep, I have a garage full but trust me, these items were gotten thru the years.

Guys just like to have fun just like women.  My GF loves the same hobbies.

such an interesting man you are.  my dad had his pilot's license and absolutely loved flying.  i don't care for the little planes myself only because i'm so afraid of heights.  i don't mind big planes though.  friends of ours in alaska have a plane and fly all over up there.

my husband also loves antique cars and every chance he gets or i should say, when they are here, he and his guys go to the car shows.  i've been to quite a few myself, but to me, you see one old car, you've seen them all.  lol  we have tons of pictures that he has taken over the years at these shows and because we live in calif. he has seen and met quite a few tv and movie stars.  men do love their cars!

you're very lucky that your gf likes the same hobbies that you do and i think she's lucky to have a guy like you.  Heart

My GF is a very great girl.  She is trying to take private pilot ground classes before taking flight lessons but I have no idea if she will like it.

She did the car show circuit with me but that grew old after a few years of waiting hours for the winners to be announced to get your trophy.

I plan to really paint her car a really pretty color when I retire.  I got her a car like in Top Gun that looks like a bath tub.  It is a 57 Porsche.

I myself have always been a Camaro guy and have a 68 show car which I plan to sell and 67 Camaro drag car.  Too many play toys at retirement time.

As I said, I am not wealthy in the least.  Just years of building them and collecting them.

I am certain this bores you but that is what I will be doing when I retire if the Good Lord be willing.

I think having hobbies that a couple enjoy be it hiking, camping, etc. is really good for a relationship.  But who am I to know.

Thank you for always being so kind.

Certainly not crazy. Porches  take curves like no other sports car.    I just traded a sweet deal.  A 2013 Caymen with only 3,000 miles on it.  A great deal for someone.  It was gone in 24 hours they told me.  Although I loved that car, I took it in for an oil change and came home with another car.  Oh my.  Oh you will keep that Porsche Boxster for a lifetime.  I still have the 911 and the Boxster from the 70's in a building along with a few old model 95 BMW's that I refuse to part with.  My retirement is going to be spent working on cars.  We actually rent a garage to store cars in that we never part with.  They sell for nothing and they have more sentimental value than they bring.  All garaged so the paint looks new.  No reason to get rid of any.  As long as they are in a building we do not have to carry insurance on all of them.

You enjoy your evening also.  I promise this will be the last time I go off on my favorite subjects of cars.  Unless I win some drag races next summer.  ROFL

Re: Favorite magazines subscriptions?

Also, I hope someone mentioned this, but in case they didn't, before you buy into getting the magazines, check out your local library: They usually have paper magazines for checkout, BUT - if you have an iPad or Kindle or similar tablet, most libraries are now using "Zinio for Libraries" and have a HUGE selection of magazines you can check out for free, just for being a member. So call up your local library and save the $20-40, and/or give that to a local charity!  I LOVE checking out magazines this way, and your local librarian will help you out!

Since I started using this instead of subscribing, I read just about everything from The New Yorker to Sunset Magazine, Oprah, Outside Magazine (a favorite!) and all the National Geographics and more.

I hope this tip is helpful, Happy New Year!!
