You are right that HSN has the best deal. I bought mine at Sephora because when I checked the HSN site, they didn't have that deal. Even though I already had the Too Faced brush from another kit I bought, I would have bought from HSN and got the brush because they are great.
I paid $34.00 at Sephora just for the foundation. HSN has the brush and foundation for $39.00.

I went old school and am currently using Clinique Superpowder Double Face Makeup in Matte Neutral. I dust on a layer over primer and spray with NYX matte finishing spray. A light dusting of Bye Bye Pores loose powder as the last step.

Although I don't know about the color range, Bobbi Brown has a brand new powder foundation that seems to be well received to far. I plan on checking it out myself as I also prefer a powder but with dry skin, have to be very cautious. I do like Smashbox's Halo and what I like most is how it looks better and better as the day goes on. It develops almost a light glow. I use their light/medium shade which works okay although I do wish they (and tons of other makeup lines) had more to offer with pink undertones (or even just a pure neutral.) All the cosmetic lines sold here on QVC have nothing for cool toned or even true neutrals - everything is way too yellow.
I tried Lancome's MM a few years ago and was pretty impressed. Considering I had never liked any MM prior to that, that is saying something. Elizabeth Arden also makes a nice MM.
I don't think too many here have tried it but if you remember the Clientele line that QVC used to offer, they have a nice powder foundation. They have a great website and make a very nice compact powder. It isn't drying and gives a very nice finish. You can also return anything there without any hassles if it doesn't work out. They have the nicest package wrapping of any site I have ever bought from. It's almost like the products are gift wrapped, plus they send some nice samples free of charge. You can check it out at Clientele dot com.
Good luck. Have you thought of using a mist to spray on once your makeup is applied. It doesn't disturb the makeup but rather, gives it a nice finish and prevents any dry, cakey look. I know a lot of ladies use them and if needed, you can also mist throughout the day. The trick is not to get too close to your skin so it just gets a light misting - makes a big difference, along with a good primer underneath any powder or MM foundation.

I don't normally comment much here, but I really wanted to share Lucy Minerals. It is a small company in Florida, Annie is the owner, and she will custom mix your shade if you cannot find anything in her already available shades. She has a great kit for anyone trying her product for the first time, it is nice for pinpointing your exact color. I am always amazed at the coverage and natural look of this foundation. I too have tried every form and brand of foundations. This is hands down the most affordable product I have found, and the sizes are very generous. A 10g jar is $15.00...and lasts for a very very long time. She often runs flash sales like buy 2 get 1 free, or a percentage off. Her finishing powder is really really nice as well. Also I might add there are different formulas for people who may be oily, or someone who may have extremely sensitive skin. I use the normal formula. Also there are no additives in her products, you can read about the products on homepage of the website.

The advantage of shopping at Sephora is that they will give you samples for some items that they sell. Some cosmetic counters at department stores also sometimes have samples available for customers to try.

Avon pressed minerals compact. Great selection of colors, full coverage w/o weight and cheap. If you don't like you only have around $12.00 invested. Estee Lauder is good also but very pricey for the same coverage I get from Avon.

MAC Studio Fix powder foundation. The brush you use will make a difference with any powder foundation so experiment with brushes. IT for Ulta has a nice angled flat top and the $3 e.l.f. flat top powder is alwo great.

I'm using Smashbox Halo from HSN in the Fair/Light shade. HSN offers many more Halo shades than QVC carried. The Fair/Light is the perfect shade for me. Many of the powder foundations I have tried are too yellow for my complexion including Light from IT Cosmetics and BNB Fair from Laura Geller. The BNB works for me in some compacts but not in others. Just depends on how much yellow powder is included in any particular compact. Sadly, you never know what you are going to get when you order her product. It really isn't consistent. I like her product a lot if the mix is right.
