Re: Fancy Containers

[ Edited ]

Yes, I am guilty of loving the Tatcha containers. I do use a few of the products which I feel are worth the cost imo because you need less of the product & work well for my skin, I love the way they look on my vanity. ETA: I did not toss the face cream jar with the golden spoon but rather transfer my moisturizer into the Tatcha jar.

I don't think I have ever chosen a pricey beauty product due to its fancy packaging; if it does what I want it to do, I don't care if it comes in a plain brown paper bag...the fancy packaging is supposed to make you think the product is better or higher quality; .not sure that is always the case.

Effective ingriedients and an affordable price point are most important to me. Also, I have most of my skincare in a drawer away from direct sunlight.

I would never purchase skincare based on a fancy container.

While they're at it, please take out the plastic handbags as an incentive to buy. Put that energy and resources in better ingriedents and/or lower prices.  I see so many of those junky bags that end up at the thrift store or in the trash.

Neither would I ever purchase because of fancy packaging. Actually, for me, it's a bit of a turn off.

I once watched a couple unboxing videos to find out what was included in certain kits.  That info should have been made available from whomever was selling the item in the first place.  I find those you tube videos yawn inducing.  In fact I find most you tube videos boring, with the exception of musical numbers.

As far as skin care goes I really do not care much about having a fancy jar etc. I prefer a pump for some things but other than that I don't really care. Packaging is a waste in many cases. Why on earth do they waste so much on what they pack things in? As far as makeup goes there are some things that I prefer to have look nice, like a compact or an eyeshadow palette. I don't like it when they look like they were made for a 5 year old though.

@CherryHugs

I don’t need fancy packaging either. I do prefer containers with tubes or pumps. Instead of throwing away the containers I recycle mine like @tototwo

I do like the container to feel substantial, I prefer glass over plastic for most, and I do like something that’s aesthetically appealing.

I have not ever cared about what a product or item is packaged in, dont need pretty containers or packaging. Just good clean products and simple containers are fine!

Yes!  I love fancy packaging!  I used to buy a lot of makeup but haven't in a long time.  I discovered that you only need a few lipsticks--a couple in the pink family, warmer coral family, and neutral group.  Beyond that they are pretty much all alike.

Especially lipsticks, I buy higher end because I think the colors are nicer and they are usually a better consistency and pigmentation level.  And I LOVE pretty packaging.  I don't need a lot of colors I need a few that look good on me.  And I find brand coloring to be more consistent.

So yes, that adds greatly to my pleasure in using makeup and skincare products.  And by buying what I love only it cuts down on clutter, and the expense and waste of trying a buch of cheap stuff because it is cheap.
