You might also try hydrating from the inside out along with external moisturizing. A daily dose of cod liver oil cured my longstanding hydration problem - especially in the winter. This was recd by a poster on these boards and I am forever grateful.

I just started taking cold liver oil....so I am hoping for some relief to my super dry skin on legs and arms.

Be patient. It wasn't a quick fix. Consistency was the key for me. I never missed a dose unless I was ill. Dehydrated facial skin was my problem.

It wouldn't hurt you to exfoliate a little more. Do you like using oils? Maybe you could add a few drops of a good facial oil to your current moisturizer. Then you wouldn't have to pitch it. You could also try an overnight moisturizing sleep mask 2-3 times a week.

Marula oil is best for dry skin. My skin is balanced since using it and we get very cold weather where I live and I have no dryness. I buy acure organics marula oil. It's not greasy and absorbs quickly. You will love it. I know I do. I use it at bedtime. You may want to start off with 2 x a day. It's under $20.

I have tried oils, creams etc. with serums on my face. In the winter no matter what I use, my face gets dry. I love using hydroshield but even with that, I get dry sometimes. I don't know if this will work for you but when I do get really dry (little flakes) and I exfoliate often, I use Aquaphor instead of my moisturizer. I know some people may break out from it but I never have. I use very little. It goes a long way. Good luck.

I use oils under my moisturizer and that really helps. I like argan oil, rose hip seed oil, jojoba oil. I use oils both morning and night under my moisturizer. Makes my face feel smooth and not itchy at all. Also, I always use a creamy cleanser that does not foam. Keeps my face feeling less dry. I would add an oil to your existing moisturizer and see if that helps. It really helps me during these winter months.

I agree with Vaccinia, I received samples of the First Aid Beauty products. I really liked all the products and went back and bought the full size of the Cleanser and Moisturizer and a couple other of their line!! The cleanser doesn't burn my eys and gets all makeup off and the moisturizer is great, It doesn't just sit on my skin and no annoying scent!!

I have never had a problem with dry facial skin and for some reason this year my skin is doing crazy things. It started shortly after I stared retinol but never thought it was from it , then I thought it maybe so I stopped using it. It got even worse so I stopped everything (my machines) and things got even worse. Not only was it dry but it looked crapey. Just this week it started feeling and looking better and I haven't changed a thing. I'm not out in the cold either so I have no idea what caused this.

I was also having dryness issues this winter. So, I switched to washing with Eclos Cleansing Oil instead of my Dove bar and that one change (combined with my moisturizer afterward)really has helped.

I put the cleansing oil on dry skin and really rub it in well and wait a minute or two. Then rinse with warm, water. I don't follow up with any other cleaning. It took a few days and after about 4 days, I saw a huge difference in my skin. As a side note, it cut down on the presence of blackheads on my nose after about a week.

I like M. Asam's Hyaluron Serum, Dr. D's Hydroshield Dream Cream, and various oils, especially Argan.
