FGP vs SAM

I've been using Wen for about a month since I bought the FGP 16 oz and RTM set. I'm very happy with how soft it left my hair, but thought it was a bit ~flat~. Today I received a set of SAM CC and styling cream. I used the same amount as the FGP but also added some SC before I got out of the shower. My hair has tons more body. Are these different formulations? I thought the fact that they were both universal meant I'd get similar results. Or is the extra body coming from the styling cream?

I've felt a bit like a mad scientist this last month trying different amounts, timing, 2 cleanses versus 1, etc. But I'm very happy with the results so far!
