FAVORITES AND FAILS?

[ Edited ]

***Some of my FAVORITES:

CT Filmstar Bronze and Glow (fair-medium)

I dip my brush in here and my blush and do a one and

      done "blonzer".

Dr. Jart+ BB Premium Beauty Balm (fair/light). This is my

           daily lightweight               CC/foundation/moisturizer...Also spf

40, but use my own higher spf underneath. This

replacd my many year search for the discontinued BB

       Tinted Moisturizer.

Nars Eye Brightener in Night Swan. Most days this is my

        only concealer needed.

City Beauty clear plumping lip gloss

Givenchy Prisme Libre (mini sizes in #2 Blanc and #3

Voile Rose). This has replaced my LM Blurring

         Powder...that says a lot.

Makeup By Mario Transforming Skin Enhancer in Light

Adds a bit of color and not overwhelming

Makeup By Mario  Soft Pop Blush Veil in Barely Blushing

(the perfect no blush look for fair to light skin)

***Here Are some FAILS:

NYX green color corrector for red areas...Replaced with

the one by ELF which is much easir to blend before

         any foundation product.

Bobbi Brown Luster and Glow Palette (too many shimmer/

bronze and gold tone shades I've never used. My

main reason I went to 4 or 5 pan palettes. Using

          mostly creamy shadow sticks

All Bobbi Brown lipsticks. They were all tossed yesterday.

Name is correct since mostly brown based and no

longer do anything for me and silver hair.

Bobbi Brown Full Coverage Concealer is too thick and

heavy for under eys and can just be used on spots w/

redness. My green concealer replaced it.

Mally Eyeliners. Think the formula changed or have just

usd better ones that don't smear.

BB Smokey Eye mascara has replaced my L'Oreal

Voluminous. It's much more natural looking

What are a few of your FAVORITES and FAILS?

The best makeup purchase for me is It Cosmetics Tightline. I have very crepey eyelids and I am able to have a vey thin line on my eyelid plus it is also a mascara primer. It takes me 10 seconds to use this product. Cannot be without it.
Also Chanel nail polish in Ballerina. Always looks fantastic, no matter the occasion.

Re: FAVORITES AND FAILS?

From last few years:

Favs:

Nars concealer

Chella (clear) Eyebrow gel

Laura Mercier lipgloss (tho' I think the color, Bare Babe, I got might be discontinued, or maybe my local Sephora just doesn't carry it anymore.)

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream...my first time using a BB cream, I like it. Goes on smooth, not greasy or heavy, light sheer coverage. I don't use liquid foundation & used to, many years ago, love DD's tinted moisturizer (it's different now, I liked when it was the "whipped cream-like" product in the jar.) This suffices. I don't need or wear it everyday, only when I want a little more matte, overall coverage.

The Ordinary Hyaluronic acid everyday serum. I like it. Not sure if/what it will do, but for $15, trying it over my DD Holy Grail for over a decade Hydroshield. I will eventually buy that again. Still love it. Waiting on her website having a deal...I missed the last Sunday one.

*************

Fails (or just not worth the hype and money)

The Laura Geller palette they were selling on Q over the holidays...eyeshadows, concealers and bronzers. Didn't like the colors or the products. (I'm otherwise a LG fan and use many of ther B&B, Blush & B, lip products.) Just didn't like this...returned.

Natasha Denona $70 "I Need A Nude" eyeshadow palette. Got a Sephora gift card for Christmas, so finally decided I'd try this. Judge and jury still out. It's ok, but I think definitely this look can be had for a lot less, and I don't find the consistency or coverage much different from other shadows I've used. I'm still trying it out and will see if I keep it. I like a little shimmer; these are very shimmery, and a little much for everyday. However, still playing around with the colors to see what "everyday" look I can make work. Again...this can be had by many a cheaper palette/brand. I'm interested in trying ColorPop, and they have some beautiful shades and decent reviews, for 1/8 of the price.

Anything Mally...used to be my Holy Grail...was my HG mascara, concealer, lipstick & glosses, eye liner pencils (still have old ones I'm using) & shadow sticks (though, they always broke too easily.) But, this brand, since being sold, ain't what it used to be. By a LOT. Nuf said.

I think that's it for me...I don't use tons of products, but in the past year or two was just trying some new items, as others got old or too expensive.

@amyb   I so agree about the ND palette. There is a strip of her 5 or 6 shads that's so similar. It was supoosed to be cool...Not. I returned mine after several uses.

Yes, Mally is a fail.

My fail would be Elemis Peptide 4 Eye Recovery Cream- it works well, but it smells like smoked salmon lox Smiley Very HappySmiley Embarassed! That scent is great if I'm eating an everything bagel with cream cheese and lox, but not if I'm putting it under my eyes Smiley Wink.

*Update...one other big Fav...

Native non-aluminum deoderant! Finally, a non-aluminum deoderant that works! Even the "fragrance" ones (I got the Peach) are really subtle, not cloying at all, don't conflict with any perfume, and not something you smell on yourself all day...just pleasant when you first put on.

I was an avid Dry Idea user for years...but occasionally would try non-aluminum...Tom's was a fail...you still get wet, and doesn't mask any odor (which was NEVER my issue until, what else...post-menopause, when everything changes!) Also one other from the health food store wasn't great either.

Native can be gotten at CVS, not that expensive and always some kind of coupons there too.

Wow, no thanks! Reminds me of years ago I tried a Dr. Perricone trial kit...smelled like fish too! Ugh. Never used any of his items after. I was a dedicated DD fan by then.

Yea, I'm already pretty convinced, while I don't hate it, it's just not worth the $70, as other things look just as good! And also, the shades weren't quite what I thought they'd be either, some basics I like to use everyday not in there.

Because it was on a casino gift card (our closest Sephora is in our casino) I have to only do an exchange, in one fell swoop, (no credit either, which I swear they told me I could get when I bought it, but no arguing with them now, I may have been wrong)...so I have to do my research and figure out what I want instead before I go back with this. Well, lesson learned. I basically think it's just over-hyped by influencers on YouTube getting paid to overhype it. I really did expect more from it.

Ok, guess I killed that topic! Lol

Naked Decay eye shadow base- massive fail it made my eye skin get all rough and chapped!

Two Faced eye shadow base- works well and does the job!

No issue.

@ECBG You reminded me of yet another of my recent new Favs...you might like as I use it as an eye shadow base...and it's beautiful...Laura Geller's "just swipe" in Shell, makes a great base. It's actually a new way of doing shadow for her, but this particular neutral shade works great as a base too. Trouble is, she always sells them as a duo, and lately haven't seen one with Shell in it...people have asked her to sell Shell by itself, so I can tell it's popular. Anyway, sounds like you really love the Two-faced but just thought I'd add that here.

For anyone else, those LG "just swipe" shadows are everything she describes...goes on smoothly, beautiful silky consistency, looks very natural, bullet proof staying power.
