Does it have to be a gel type? If you're interested in a liquid, and like only black or brown, Physicians Formula 2-in-1 Lash Booster and Eyeliner is a good one. One of these days I'd like to try some gel liners, though.

Jordana makes a gel eyeliner pencil that I really like. It's called 12 Hour Made to Last and it goes on very smoothly for me and never skips. Has nice staying power, too.

Smashbox's new Always Sharps are fabulous for a no tug/no skip application and long wear. I bought one a couple weeks ago, and was so wowed I bought replaced two old so-so liners with colors in Always Sharp.

I can recommend two types and brands. I really like the felt tip eyeliner pens - like lancome's art liner; gives you great control, it's easy to use, and you can get a super thin line right into your lash line. Its waterproof or close to it! It's a kind of bold line though and not one you can smudge very well. If you like to smudge, then I love it's no-tug gel eyeliner pencil. It's fabulous. Waterproof, really easy to apply with literally no pull on the delicate eyelid skin. And it comes with its own sharpener in the other end of the pencil
