Re: Eyelash Extensions anyone???

I have to agree with Remee. Eyelash extensions? Really? It sounds like the height of vanity.

I was thinking of doing this until i read that it makes your own eyelashes fall out.I don't know how true that is but i read that in a few blogs.

It doesn't make your eyelashes fall out. However if you don't remove them correctly you could lose a few. Same as when you don't remove eye makeup correctly.

Re: Eyelash Extensions anyone???

I have an appointment to get eyelash extensions on 11/8. I'm hardly vain...am the opposite (will do ANYTHING to avoid a mirror), which is why I am trying to do something to make me feel better about my looks...and, to save even the few minutes it takes in the morning to apply mascara.

Re: Eyelash Extensions anyone???

My girlfriend had them for about a year and they looked wonderful. She went about once a month - she tried to stretch it out as long as she could. She ended up getting eye infections that her eye doctor said was caused by the glue. She had them removed and it took several months for her lashes to grow back. She did say she had to be careful in the shower and not get an undo amount of water in her eyes and not to rub them.

Re: Eyelash Extensions anyone???

I have worn eyelash extensions for over five years now and there are pros and cons to them. The initial cost for me was $100 (on a 1/2 price special that was being promoted at the time). It takes approx. two hours to get your initial set put on. You then have to go every two to three weeks to have a "fill" to replace the lashes that have fallen out and a fill usually takes about 45 minutes. The fills cost me from $30 to $40 with tip. I love not having to use mascara because I have light, short eyelashes and it is worth the money for me not having to spend 15-20 minutes every day putting on mascara. However, I cannot wear eyeliner on my top lids because it "tweaks" the lash extensions and/or loosens them when you remove the eyeliner with a makeup remover or cleanser. I guess it all depends on what you want to do but for me personally, I love them and will wear them for as long as I can.

P.S. Also, if you have sparse lashes the extensions will not be as full as someone who has their own "fuller" lashes because they are glued onto your own lashes. There are lash growth stimulators out there that are safe to use and are basically protein/peptide based, (I use Revitalash) that help with growing your own longer, stronger, fuller lashes.

I don't think it's any different than any of the other things we do to make ourselves look nice. Some color hair, get hair extentions, wigs, botox, mascara, lipstick, fillers, foundation, etc. It's all for our own vanity. So what, you aren't hurting anyone and just make yourself feel better about how you look. This is the beauty forum.
