Eye primer application question

Do you put eye primer on your entire lid (up to the eyebrow) or just on the lid up to the crease? I have experimented with both, but it seems that sometimes the application is patchy if I go above the crease.

I've tried a lot of different primers. Maybe I'm just not waiting long enough for it to dry.

I know it depends on if you're using eyeshadow all over the lid. Just wondering what others do. I like using several colors, but sometimes I don't like the result.
