Emjoi eRase - ???

I am so glad I purchased the Emjoi eRase - it does everything it is claimed to do. I don't have to use it all that often now.

Here's my question: am I to hover over the area I'm epilating or am I to use it directly on my skin? The last couple of times I have had such chafed, dry skin on the upper lip area after I epilate. This hasn't happened until the last couple times. I use it directly on my skin. I apply a wonderful coconut oil based lotion immediately following that calms my skin and takes away the redness. Then I apply my moisturizer; however, it takes a couple of days for my skin to return to normal.

Am I not using this correctly? TIA for your help.

I use it directly on my skin, but for the upper lip area, I draw my lip down and tighten it over my teeth (if you can get that visual). At the corners, I press my tongue against the inside of my lip to tighten that area. That way, there's less chance of the Emjoi grabbing and pinching any of that skin. Then I proceed as normal with any cleansing and follow-up products.

I wouldn't give $10, for a whole boatload of epilators. Darn it, it HURTS like heck! I tried using one for 2 years and it never quit hurting. Finally got a nice wet/dry rechargable Panasonic for less than $20, that does a beautiful job.

Thanks for your reply. I use the epilator on my upper lip as you do. Hmmm...I think next time I'll not stay on this area as long. My sideburns have all but vanished and don't sting as much when I groom them. When I was using a razor to clean up my sides, they came back like men's whiskers. Ugh.

@pommom - I should have also mentioned that I don't let the emjoi just sit there either. I keep it moving back and forth which also lessens the chances of skin getting pinched.

I couldn't live without my erase. I bought a second one for travel but I wouldn't use it on my bikini area - everywhere else I would use it.

I haven't tried an epilator in probably 15 years but I could never deal with the pain either. The vendor talks about these being less painful and I almost caved the last time it was presented but I have a feeling she's just used to the pain.

I was going to buy a wet/dry shaver the other day but I wasn't sure how well that would actually work. I don't remember the name brand though but I've had some in the past that didn't shave anything. LOL I'll look at the Panasonic.

Nor do I. I think I'm just going back and forth too many times. Sooner or later, I'm going to master this epilating thing! HA!
