What is a facial essence?

Facial essences are usually thought of as an extra layer of hydration. They absorb quickly and sink in deep within the skin due to the light and watery consistency, clearing the way for serums and moisturizers to follow and aiding in their absorption.

@bronxgal1  I had Tatcha essence & gave it to my daughter. I found it drying on my skin & my skin is normal to dry. & used others but I find that I prefer a serum. I use Josie Maran's Milk Face Serum. Love it! I also have Heritage Rose Water which is basically a hydrater after cleansing the skin. It works well as an Essence & low cost.

I continue to use Tatcha's Camilla oil for the face, Rice Wash & Face Polish in Gentle.

@Kabella - the Heritage Rose Water is basically water with some rose fragrance added to it.  If you want the benefits of a true rose water, look into Alteya Organics Bulgarian Rose Water.  It is made through a distillation process that uses freshly picked rose petals and has many more benefits for the skin.

@JeanLouiseFinch  Thankyou for the reco! I like the Heritage & know its water with a slight rose scent. I just find it refreshing on my skin after cleansing. Also, I spray it on my face after applying BM powder foundation. I have another spray bottle that mists & I transfer the water because I don't care for the spray on the heritage bottle.

Heritage has plain rose water and a different  one that has added glycerin for extra hydration.
